Currently I live in Fayetteville, Arkansas and want to move somewhere near Gardnerville, Neveda.

Are there any towns near it that are a tiny bit more diverse but still low crime?

What do you mean by "diverse"?

How many miles do you mean when you say "near"?

Minden is really the same town as Gardnerville. In fact most people say, Gardnerville/Miden" when they refer to the area.

Other than that, Carson City is the next closest and it is the Capital of NV. About 50K in population but still a pretty small "city", more like a big town. Nothing in between the two on 395. Carson City is about 15 miles north of G/M. There will be more crime in Carson City than G/M but still not bad.

There are a few small towns east of Carson (Dayton, Fallon, etc) but they are small and not as nice as G/M. It gets more dessert terrain as you go east.

About 20 miles north of Carson City is Reno which is the biggest city in the area. Reno has more crime than Carson City and more homeless.

You can go south about 20 miles on 395 to Topaz but that is not really a town, just a small community on the lake.

Why do you want to move to Gardnerville? I love it there but not much employment opportunities. Most people move there because they know someone or they are escaping from CA.

The whole area is pretty rural in nature. If you are looking for culture and sophistication of a big city, you won't find it in this area.

I can't speak for CC, but crime in Reno is highly dependent upon where you are. I use for example the myRPD app which shows exactly where crimes are happening and the type of crime. Southern areas of the Reno metro area are low in crime. If you are looking for a more rural area, you could consider places between Reno and CC such as Virginia Highlands, or Virginia City. I suspect there is diversity in all of those areas although not sure if it meets your needs.

If I was going to live in upstate NV it would be in Gardnerville/Minden. For practical purposes there is no crime.

It is however not cheap. And it has winter. I am not sure it is a good -place to rent. It is a place where people buy. Diversity there is kind of silly. It is ruralish. And mildly basque. And would consider "diverse" somewhat unamerican.

So make sure you know what you are getting into...people who use 'diverse" will not likely find hapiness in rural Nevada .
