Tilman Fertitta, owner of the Golden Nugget brand (among others) is buying six acres on the strip on the southeast corner of Harmon Avenue. He's talking about a new casino development.

Interesting. His cousins own the station casinos. Maybe a merge is in the future.

Lol no. That would be utterly shocking. Stations/Red Rock has had plenty of options to get downtown or on the Strip and wisely stayed away. Palms was the closest they came and it was a disaster.

Plan could change but I don't think the Strip property would be named Golden Nugget.

Probably not decided yet, but it is his main brand. Does he want to spin up a whole new set of branding from scratch? And, of course, his cousins have casinos of the same branding all over the valley.

Vital Vegas says no publicly it wont be. I have heard a name as well and it's not GN.

Hmmm. Six acres isn't really that much. I assume he's grabbing up the retail on that corner along with the crappy Travelodge. Polo Towers and the Marriott Grand Chateau aren't going anywhere.

I think he's buying everything from the Travelodge north to Harmon. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes after the retail property south of there in front of Polo Towers. Given that it's a timeshare (IIRC) I don't know if he could buy Polo towers itself, but if he could, all that together would be a nice development site.

A big question is what the relationship is between Polo Towers and the retail center in front of it. They may have common ownership, and if that owner wants to sell the view rights would be moot.

There was a time those air rights to the west of Polo Towers were for sale. Never heard if they sold or not.
