New in Carson City & Looking for Work
I recently moved back to Carson City. My son was born here 8 years ago and I moved away to California (bad move that was). So now I"m back as a single mother and having trouble finding a job. I am somewhat limited because I do not have access to a car, so the job would have to be walking distance, and the hours would have to be during the hours that my son is in school. I am currently living in a motel and am anxious to get an apartment for my son and I. Any ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated. mod cut: email address removed Thanks again.

Reason: including an address appears soliciting. Make contact on the board first then you can correspond by email. Thanks.

you didn't note what your qualification are. What type of work are you looking for?

My main background is admin. asst., but my last job was at a newspaper in the warehouse, getting the newspaper out. That was a very early morning shift, which I really liked. But right now, I'll do just about anything at an entry level position. I just need a job.

I've gone to many websites for carsoncity jobs, and have walked around town and filled out applications, but nothing yet. I've been at it for about 2 weeks (that's as long as I've been in Carson). I'm frustrated. It's discouraging. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Go here and select Carson in the location box. This is the open job list for State of Nevada government jobs. You can even complete the applications online.
Then, this link will take you to the current listings for jobs at the Carson Tahoe Medical Center. It's the hospital at the north end of town. They also have other off-site locations throughout the area. Again, you can complete the application on-line.
I did a quick search on the med center site and saw a bunch of different jobs, including those that don't require any degrees. For example, at the med center I quickly saw a listing for Housekeeper. I'm not necessarily saying it's for you, but that's just one example that's not like the RV/LVN/Therapist type jobs that are also on the list.

Instead of completing an application get your resume in order, I do the hiring for our company and have for others over the last 18 years.
Be sure to dress above the desired dress code, always be very professional even if the position is not in the professional field.
