According to another (unmentionable) site Dayton gets 57" of snow while Minden gets 18". Can that be accurate?

Default less snow in Dayton

That number is wrong. Because of the mountain range between Carson City and Dayton, Dayton gets less snow than Carson. This winter we got about 10" total. But I don't think there is a weather station here that measures precipitation.

All I know is that the golf course here was the first one to open in February when Carson and Genoa were still snow-covered.

Like most places, snowfall in a complete winter varies from year to year. Anywhere from a few inches to close to 5 feet. The winter of 04-05 brought over 5 feet and this past winter, 09-10 brought over 4 feet with the temperature dropping below zero several nights in December of 09. Minus 14 was the coldest according to my store bought thermometer
