What is Silver Springs like? What are the + & - of the town? How do you like living there, or what was it like when you traveled through there? How do you like the weather? Any info you can help me with would be great!! Thanks, Jenn

Hi, Jenn. SS is flat dry desert. A crossroads for hwys between larger towns. No retail stores, malls. Just gas stations, quick stops, and such. Desert lake nearby for boating, etc.

Hope you like your towns small
Silver springs is an extremely !!!!! small town about 45 minutes out of Reno
the town ammenities consist of 2 small markets/gas stations, 1 casino, 1 pizza parlor, 3 bars and a lot of mobile homes.
20 miles away is Fernley a growing little town with most of the small town feel and restuarants.
Silver Springs does have one good thing going for it it is in the edge of lake Lahontan and the property values are low...with Reno's growth rate it will be the suburbs in less than 10 years.
I don't know the reason for your move ...but good luck.

It's very cheap to live in Silver Springs that's why it's population is 4000.

Last time I drove through Silver Springs this month, it had at least two casinos. Think actually that it has three now.
Also, it has a new large senior center/community center building. The old senior center now is a rather large decently priced thriftstore.
More of a settlement than a town. It included the Stagecoach population a few years back to get to the minimum population required for the new post office there.
The public library there has improved immensely in number of books, computers, magazines and hours in contrast to 4 years ago.
Pizza store is pretty community-supportive.
Two laundromats, a feedstore, a dollar store, a WIC office, one church with emergency monthly food bank. A CSA. Animal shelter (no cats or birds, only dogs and large livestock) Large general store, limited produce and meat and the prices run high on canned goods, pet food, etc.. No public transit (unless you are a vet using the vet van for medical appointments in Reno or Carson, or the senior center van to the senior center--which is not near the public library or the schools).
Ongoing sewer/water dept. "scandal".
New middle school/high school (Stagecoach kids are bussed there).
My question is why is there no town listing for Stagecoach? We're larger than Allen SD which has a listing, and Stagecoach has been getting population growth from the overflow from Dayton which has been getting the overflow from Carson City, as people commute longer hours & miles for less expensive land and housing.

Still Moving to Silver Springs?
As Jules said, definitely flat and dry desert but enjoyed the climate (as opposed to Southern NV), found the people to be friendly and nicely located between Virginia City, Carson and Reno. Easy access into Sacramento and the Bay Area in CA. I would choose to live in SS over Reno, particularly if I was raising a family.

Reason: wrong word -- "to climate" s/b "the climate"
