I hate to be on the negative side but I like the smoking ban myself, I can finally go into a restaurant and eat my food without tasting the next patrons smoke, I do believe you have rights too I smoked for 20 years before quitting you might want to try it but it is tuff but you will smell better for it and possibly live longer, who knows we can always get ran over by the person trying to light his smokes in the car or the one on the cell phone, gosh I hate those more.

Default Smoking ban in Nevada?

Well, considering that 21 states in the U.S. now have smoking bans of one sort of the other (almost all include restaurants and bars) I would think that moving so you could smoke in a restaurant would be a bit silly and certainly not cost effective. Plus, there is no guarantee that the state you move to wouldn't evoke a no smoking ban. There are areas of the world that have banned smoking where people were thought to be TIED to their cigarettes....France, Germany, etc. Even states like Arkansas, which a lot of people consider to be less enlighten, have banned smoking.

I have to admit I like being able to go out to eat or walk thru a grocery store and not be assaulted by second hand smoke. And yes, I'm an ex-smoker. Feel better, smell better, have more $$ in the pocket.

Absolutely, that's what I've said for years.

I have no problem with people messing their lungs with smoking, so by all means they should do it all they want in their cars, their homes, etc. But we know how dangerous second hand smoke is so it's infringing on my health if people smoke in public. It's a nasty addiction that is costly. It's also a selfish act when you look at what second hand smoke does to people. I'm all for a smoking ban in public places.

I'd rather be in a car full of smokers than a car being driven by a drunk driver. As far as I know smoking is still legal. People have become way to hypersensitive on this subject. Smoke em if you got em as far as I'm concerned because guess what folks nobody is going to live forever.

That is an amazing post. Back to, I have no problem if you smoke, just don't exhale, I have no wish to share your expulsions. Spitting used to be socially acceptable, all bars and restaurants had cuspidors. Today, except for a few, spitting in public is not an accepted social practice.

Soon, we trust, putting burned material into your lungs and the lungs of everyone around you will be a thing of the past.

A really sideways note, in the olden days, when I was single and on the prowl, my buds and I knew that success in the late night search would be insured if you simply sought out a young lady who smoked,, no idea what the connect was, but we proved it time and time again.

My point is second hand smoke won't kill you immediately if you inhale it. I understand real dangers and secondhand smoke is not one of them. I'm smart enough to walk away if the smoke bothers me but I'm also not so damn smug to think that somehow if you smoke I'm better than you because I'm a non smoker. The attitude of non smokers (and by the way I don't smoke ) is rude at best.

You are kidding right? I am sitting in a restuarant, 20 feet from a smoker. I get his exhalations, I don't care if that is going to kill me. It is rude, it is as if I was expectorating at his feet.

Manners, dear lady, manners.

I would say someone who thinks like that has been smoking the crack pipe a little too much, no?

it should be up to the ownership of a particular establishment as to whether or not smoking is allowed or how they want to do that.
