nevada aint so bad....
1. Horrible Heat - Yes it is very hot here, but this is good for me because I have really bad asthma. I lived in hawaii for a long time and used inhalers every day (2 canisters per month). Since I moved here 4 years ago, my asthma has gone dormant and havent used an inhaler in 4 years. Its so dry here that I do not have asthma problems.
2. Hookers Galore - prostitution is illegal in clarke county and i hardly ever see hookers anywhere. I go out to the clubs all the time on the strip and i never see trashy lookin whores standin around.
3. Dessert = No scenery - The whole city (Las Vegas) lies within a gigantic valley. No matter where you look, you are surrounded by beautiful mountains. you should see the view from my house. when the sun goes down, the sky often turns the valley sky red...its beautiful.
4. Ugly little towns with disgusting bathrooms - Cant argue that one really....but hey, move to vegas instead. We have the best bathrooms in the country at our casinos.
5. Ranked 2nd most dangerous state (next to Louisiana) - hes got a point.
6. Ugly campgrounds - are you serious? campgrounds? if your using that as an excuse why not to live here then you are desperate for excuses.
7. Mean people - people are mean everywhere
8. No history except VA city - now thats just ridiculous. Nevada is Battle Born.
9. To overpriced - gas is cheaper here than in California. And so is rent, food, and everything else.
10. Nothing but casions everywhere. Even in chevrons! - I hit a $4000 royal flush 2 weeks ago. Nevada aint so bad......

Sounds to me like the one that's NE of Tonopah on the east side of the valley. [can't remember the name of the valley tho.....] Was the quietest place I had been in years [even when a "non-exisant" B-2 bomber went by 200 feet off the ground.....

3. Dessert = No scenery The Desert is scenery to some of us. Absolutely beautiful in fact AMAZING to this former east coaster who was always surrounded by trees, the openness is freeing and RR Canyon at sunset is like magic
4. Ugly little towns with disgusting bathrooms HAHAHA are you sure you are not taking about New Jersey?
5. Ranked 2nd most dangerous state (next to Louisiana) Yes and a lot of it comes in from SoCal on weekends. Stay off the strip and out of the strip clubs and go out of town if there is another NBA game!!
6. Ugly campgrounds So stay at a nice hotel instead for a lot cheaper than any other city!
7. Mean people You want to see mean? Try Massachusetts in February...
8. No history except VA city Nevada has a wonderful history and so does Las Vegas. I bet people from London complain about a lack of history when they are in Plymouth, MA. It's all your perspective. The history of the strip alone is fascinating.
9. To overpriced Sorry what is overpriced? The food is cheap and plentiful, Your choice of buffets cheap, moderate and high end, not to mention endless 24 hour coffee shops. You can certainly find an expensive meal here but if you can't afford joel robuchon then go to Ellis Island and enjoy the best steak dinner that $4.95 can buy! If you mean the housing then yes it has gone up but that is because... people want to live here and the booming economy heated up the market. It's correcting itself now and it will even out in time. If you are comparing Idaho then yes Vegas is expensive but try comparing it to San Francisco...
10. Nothing but casions everywhere. Even in chevrons! Yes you are right thank goodness. That is why you won't be paying personal income tax, why you have more amenities than any other western city. and it's what makes vegas Vegas Baby!
Sorry to those who live in Nevada. I drove by on my way to visit family in Idaho, and I was not pleased with Nevada at all. I'm orginally from CA so yea maybe my expectations where a little high, but still Nevada did not please me at all. States like CA and Ohio are much better.

Ahmmm Ohio? You must be joking?

Redistribution

I know that's not what you're suggesting[/u], and it would be a far far stretch on my part to suggest it was part of your arguement. However, "redistribution" a concept that brings such issues to mind for those people who have populated the West for years.

Like the Native Americans? They've been here a lot longer than you have. The original European colonizers (ie terrorists, ie founding fathers) didn't seem to have a problem with redistribution as long as it was into their pockets. Redistribution goes on all the time. The rich and powerful are masters at redistributing wealth out of your pocket into theirs. Half a trillion tax payer dollars will be spent in Iraq. Somebody's getting rich on the Iraq war and it ain't you or me, well certainly not me.
