Not hostile or mean?

HA.

You can't go to Walmart without hearing rude comments about yourself or others.

I couldn't even go to middleschool because I got beatup for being poor and not having the best clothes and because of my race, and what did the idiotic dean of students say? "Well, we aren't body guards. We can't garuntee her safety when she is here." And "If she doesn't want to be beatup, maybe she should stay in the caffeteria during lunch."

But when I fought back, there was ALOT of disiplinary action taken against me for RACISM and HATE CRIMES.

Nevada is a terrible state with terrible schools and a very messed up priority list. People here go out of their way to be mean. (And no, that isn't what highschool and middle school are all about. Not if the parents had raised those punks right and the school had stopped being so racist.)

Sorry for your pain...but you are incorrect. Your stories are entirely anectdotal. While terrible for you they say nothing about the overall society or people of Nevada.

I and my wife regularly use Walmart. We have not seen or heard rude remarks..We have seen some odd people though that happens often in Vegas.

Perhaps the Dean was simply giving you a view of the limits of his authority? Perhaps he was telling you where you needed to be to be practically protected? And maybe he was a jerk...you will run into more than a few of those over a lifetime.

You write young. It is often the young that are the most cruel to each other. But most of that passes with age and maturity.

If however your view persists you should simply leave. Shake the dust of Nevada from your clothes and never return. That would likely be good for you and Nevada.

Nevada is a neat state and I am learning more and more about it all of the time. Did you know that Dawn Wells (Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island) is a graduate of Reno High School and a former Miss Nevada? The former First Lady Pat Nixon was born in Ely.
What is there historic about Idaho? Can someone educate me please?

You poor thing, so you think it's only in Nevada? Wake up it's everywhere. 35 years ago the same thing happened in Paramount California, yesterday it happened in Anchorage Alaska

Tressa I agree

Clover I am sorry for your problems, it was wrong for people to treat you like that... however, you have to rise above their level... by you acting the way you did and do you are stooping to their level... people like that are ignorant and shouldn't be worth your thoughts and actions, instead you should feel sorry for them... There are people are mean, rude, and racist everywhere.

I doubt if the incidents Clover described happened as she described. Heck my wife got beat up by the indian girls at Vaughn Middle School because she was a cute blonde.

The Indian girls got beat up by the black girls.

The most redneck community you can imagine is Sun Valley Nevada, yet the Mexicans live along side the whites, and mixed race couples with mixed race children are everywhere.

I think, if you go looking for trouble you will find it. And if not, not.

Sorry to those who live in Nevada. I drove by on my way to visit family in Idaho, and I was not pleased with Nevada at all. I'm orginally from CA so yea maybe my expectations where a little high, but still Nevada did not please me at all. States like CA and Ohio are much better.
