I'm sort of over snobs that identify with where they live too much. Get out and see it all! The desert is very cool. I do carry a gun out there, he he. There are some strange rangers in the desert. if you don't like smoke..don't go where people hang out and smoke.
Which breaks from "Uncle Sam" are you taking?

I agree Nevada does have too many people thats why they can't afford to fund education or fix things properly (fernely levy)

Next year you all will have to find babysitters for your kids for Friday cause they're gonna make the school week 4 days! And the poor will remain poor here with a lack of education and high cost of living... I tried to give Nevada a chance and it failed miserably...

Only 2 million people here and they can't even balance a budget... then they cut funding to k-12 rather than raise taxes on Casino... [Sarcasm] They really care about your Children's future here [/Sarcasm]

I'll be going back to Nebraska/Iowa so my son can get a full education, not an 80% one!

You guys do have great weather here, but other than that there is no future for Nevada, might as well give it back to Mexico the US would be better off without it!

Lots of luck...who told you that it is even possible to get educated in Nebraska or Iowa? One can of course live there...but one can also live in rural Arkansas. But educated? Hmmm...well maybe in Iowa City...

Actually University of Nebraska - Lincoln is a pretty decent school... I guess they might not be quite as popular as other schools because they are mostly Ag (it is Nebraska) But they do have a law school! UNR doesn't have a law school.

I'm not 100% sure on the stats but I believe it outranks both UNLV and UNR.

And if you wanted to become a medical doctor, Omaha is the only city of its size to have 4 research hospitals- University of Nebraska Medical Center, University of Creighton Medical Center, Boystown Research Hospital, and a Children's Hospital!

You'd be surprised at what the midwest has to offer... And also, as you mentioned, Iowa is a top ranking school...

And actually I was referring to K-12 education for my son... Unlike Nevada, Nebraska doesn't have a billion dollar budget shortfall, they are actually doing pretty good out there right now

Well sure as soon as they dry out Iowa City and Cedar Rapids it will again be a nice state. Make sure your kid is not susceptable to mold. Whole city is going to be loaded.

I see little probability that the schools will be impacted in any significant way...and if there is any the shock will be taken by the weak schools as is always the case. School systems always screw the poor.

I actually like Lincoln...but it suffers from the terrible problem of being in Nebraska..a little better than N. Dakota...but not a lot. Omaha is an arm pit city.

don't really want to get to involved in this, but when i lived in Omaha a man was shot in the alley next to my house and my roommate's car was stolen from our driveway (separate occasions)....my point - all cities have bad areas (and we really didn't live in what would be called a "bad" areas of omaha). can't base your image of a city on what you saw on COPS.

oh yeah...one more thing: it is Creighton University not the University of Creighton (minor point, but as an alum i had to make it)

Sorry to those who live in Nevada. I drove by on my way to visit family in Idaho, and I was not pleased with Nevada at all. I'm orginally from CA so yea maybe my expectations where a little high, but still Nevada did not please me at all. States like CA and Ohio are much better.
So I am guessing you're traveling in rv, stopping at the least expensive place and going to the cheapest gas stations on the side of the road... well, what the hell did you expect? thats just about everywhere.

how can a desert be ugly? IT is after all a desert... nothing but dirt... OH MY GOSH! you're hilarious. Believe me, I am from GA and I HATE living out here, but this is my home so WATCH what you say while you are driving buy .... and no, there aren't casinos everywhere, they weren't in the rv campground you parked in where they?

I think the desert is very pretty. I also think Georgia is beautiful...the couple times I have been there.
