Recently as I was coming out of CVS, I noticed someone trying to start her car. Her battery died. Just as I went over to help, someone else came out of his car and said he was going to get his charger. In case he didn't come back, I waited with her and figured out where the negative charge was. Those things are so hard to find sometimes. I could have easily jump started her car but then the guy would have come back for nothing. Fifteen minutes later, he came back and started it. It was so nice of him. We all live in close proximity to each other. People are very friendly and nice. I had neighbors come over and welcomed me with cookies when I first moved here.

Where in Vegas do you live, because where I live, if you move in, the only welcome you get is an association violation or a neighbor yelling at you about an association violation, or a brief hello every three days, lol.

Kid I am beginning to worry about you. Whatever happened to Smoke Ranch? You gotta get out of these transient zones and into permanent Vegas. It is a pretty nice place. The old cowboys talk bad but act good. And even the pickemup guys are fine when you need a hand...you just don't want to live next to them.

I haven't moved there, our family can't afford the housing there, right now we're looking to rent a condo or our realtor has found a repo we might look at near Los Prados. Right now I live in Green Valley Ranch, which is very transient, can't wait till we move where there are more permanent residents (older areas, mainly)

Nevada is a great state for adventure. Love the desert. Love Pyramid Lake. Great to get away from people for a time. Get off the road. The geology is fascinating. Look up in the mountains and see the ancient shores of Lake Lahontan. Fossils. Prospecting. Ghost towns. Wild horses.
Stop and listen to the silence.
Only the Burning Man is watching you

Finally hearing from folks who like Nevada what a treat, the desert is so different from here and we are so looking forward to our move. Building a new life in our retirement years, looking forward to meeting new folks and ones that we've already met are a real treat and helpful and just kind. Thank you for your positive take on Nevada

Berlin Ichthyosaur (sp?) State Park, a little off of Rte 50. Ghost town and fossils.
I went there on one of my desert runs. I decided that I just hadda see a place called Gabbs, NV. It's not on the way to anywhere, it's along the road, a little ways out in NV, that connects Rte 50 and Rte 80, if memory serves.

Gabbs is considered the most isolated town in Nevada., but Ione is even more isolated, and a lot nicer.
