Moving to Nevada - not too hot or too cold area (Las Vegas: loan, living)

Well, now that I've decided to move to Nevada and I know I can't live in the Las Vegas Valley because of the heat, I began looking into Tahoe/Reno area but it appears there just may be too much snow there for me and the winters may be too rough.

Where in Nevada (possibly midstate) can I find a more ideal year round temp - not too hot and not too cold - or is there such a place? If there is a place, I'd imagine it's in the middle of no where?????

Are there areas not too far from Reno/Tahoe that possibly don't get the snow that Tahoe gets?

Well Lander and Eureka Countys are pretty mild but let me warn you if you move there your moving to a rural area just incase you don't like rural areas.

You won't find many spots that aren't 'hot' in the summer. With the exception of Mt. CHarleston even the areas closer to the mountains get pretty steamy. The temp. only varies by degrees between Green Valley/Henderson and someplace like Summerlin (a tad bit cooler) not enough temp. difference to be the deciding factor imho.

again gardnerville is nice its close to cason city about 15 minutes and about 45 to reno, its small and yes some snow, i like it cason city is nice again snow, not much though maybe a foot or so but it clears up pretty quickly and the roads are usually plowed.

oh i forgot gville has nice summers not to hot and its a heat wave at 95 lol and the nights are awesome so cool and great for sleeping. you dont need air conditioning in gville/minden area

Interesting, that some folks think the summers are mild anywhere in Nevada. IMHO it is quite hot to to hot. Altitude will get you cooler, above 7,000 ft is decent. I try to avoid Reno in the summer, the heat combined with pavement makes it unbearable,,, to me at least,

Winters are mild on the west side of the state. They do get cold inland,,, Continental climate.

yeah it does get hot in some places. gville doesnt carson not really but fallon yeah its hot, and reno gets hot. but compared to where i am now its alaska, lol!!

How is Las Vegas compared to Phoenix for example?

Reverse that, is Fairbanks colder than St. Paul in the winter.... mmm both pretty damned cold. Phoenix, Vegas,,, pretty damned hot.

Nevada has a continental climate, cold winters hot summers,, you can adjust your ratio but except above 7,000 feet, it is hot in the summer everywhere.

Cold? compared to LA, most of Nevada is darned cold. Sometimes even Vegas will get snow. My daughters played soccer last year in Vegas, in the snow. Another time, the artificial grass they played melted onto their cleats..
