Looking for the ight city to semi-retire
Currently live in San Diego since 1988. Just retired from the Navy after 23 years service. Currently market is depressed but still requires 450K to purchase house our family needs. Currently living in small townhome and need extra space. We can do that but my wife is tired and I wish to find a place where cost of living/ housing values will support her retirement. I plan to work for years to come. If military base nearby, or VA a huge plus. Looking for "San Dieganish" climate i.e. min 40 max 100 degrees. Also we own a boat and two jet skis so a body of sizable water within 30 miles a must. Went to Laughlin/ Bullhead last year severly dissappointed, 120+ degree weather. On other hand do not want snow as found in Reno. Does such a place exist in Nevada? Vegas/ Lake Mead looks perfect but it's just as hot as Laughlin, Am I being nieve? I love San Diego but don't want us both to work our way into an old folks home with no retirement fun. Please help.

There is a reason San Diego is so expensive, its such a great place to live. You will not find San Diego weather in NV. If you want San Diego, find a way to stay.

I got caught up in the incredible home prices, search Zip realty Las Vegas, 170K for 2500sq ft home built in 2005 with 6500 sq ft yard and in ground pool. This would cost me 450K in San Diego plus the home would be 40+ years old. There has to be somewhere in NV that comprimizes weather and cost. Any more info please post.
