Pahrump questions (vehicle registration, house, preschools)

I've read through the seven pages of "moving to pahrump" already on the thread, but I guess it isn't providing me with what I'm looking for...

My husband moved down there in January for work (he was hired by FrontSight)...and I'm still here getting our house ready to sell (and looking for a nursing job...probably in Vegas).

We have four kids aged 12 years down to 2 years, so need information on area schools and preschools.


Would like info on average costs of phone bills, cooling expenses, TV, etc....costs of licensing vehicles, etc. My husband also said something about having to get permits in Vegas for certain work....is that a Vegas thing or a Nevada thing?

Ok the permits thing for work. You will need a Sheriff's card if you work on any casino floor.

If you work in the restaurants, you do not need it.

Phone bills? Depends on your plan.. you would have to call ATT about that one.

Vehicle registration is higher than other states I have lived in.. (NY and CA)

Heating and cooling? I like it cold.. so in the winter I rarely turn on my heat and my bill for a 2000 SQ FT house is around 130 bucks (We run a computer biz here so my computers are always on) Summer is in the 250's a month.. but as I said... I like it cold.

Cool deal on him getting on at Front sight? What does he do there. I am a member out there and love to get to classes when I can.

He's an instructor, teaches 3 weekends out of 4....

We spent last week out there for me to interview at several hospitals (in Vegas) and to get a feel for the area. What beautiful country!
