I moved from Arizona to Gardnerville in March 2008 and then to the very northern edge of Minden in June. I can say we have greatly enjoyed it here quite a bit. As with everywhere else the economy has not been kind to the area, so I would make sure the job you are looking into is 200% stable for at least the next 2 years, because if it falls through, it might be a very hard to find something else around here. The snow in the carson valley this year has been very light (as I am told) and we go to Tahoe almost every other weekend, only twice going up to Tahoe did we have to toss the chains on and one of those times, I really didn't think it was necessary (though the NHP guy disagreed) as the road didn't have any snow or ice on it. I'm sure if you drove it every day chains would become routine and a few days I'd bet you would be late for work. Good luck and make sure to check the job offer out EXTENSIVELY before packing up the homestead and joining us.
