How long from Ely to Las Vegas
Realistically, with good weather, what is the time to travel from Ely to Las Vegas taking 6 West to 93 South? I think google maps calculates the time unrealistically, it says 5:15 for 246 miles making the average speed about 47 mph. This seems unrealistic to me because from what I understand, the speed limit is 70 or 75 mph and there are almost no towns to drive through with stops and lower speed limits.
What are the road conditions going south on 93 from Ely like? Is there usually a lot of snow in the winter? Is the speed limit 70 mph most of the way and in good condition? I have only gone on 93 north to 80 on my way to SLC.

Why? Google Maps has already provided you with reasonable expectations.

Yes, the road is good that trip should only take about 3.5 Hr. Look at the prefrences you have selected on google maps?

Thanks for the answer, I looked at MapQuest and it said 3hrs 53min which seems much more reasonable.

Ive done it in as little as 2.5 hours to the I-15, but average is about 3.5 hours with a stop in Ash Springs. You can easily do 80+ from Lund to about the Narrows and then again from the Preserve to i-15. NHP patrols from the Narrows thru the Preserve, and Lincoln county patrols from Hiko thru the Preserve, watch out for them because they are much worse than NHP. You get pulled over by NHP, its a $63 non moving violation, but Lincoln will get you for $150 w/ 2 points for 5 over. You may occasionally see NHP from the Preserve down to I-15, but I think Ive seen Lincoln County south of the Preserve once (of course, that was the time they got me for 5 over).

Fastest route from Ely to LV is to take US 93 south to the McDonald's, turn right and take US-93 to the NV-318 turnoff for Carver/Lund. Take NV-318 south until it re-connects with US-93, then on I-15 west into LV.
Time: 3 hours. Been there, done that, many times.
Taking US-6 west, you could have NV-375 (the "Extra-terrestrial highway") south to US-93, or go to Tonopah and get US-95. Both are adding extra miles onto your journey and at least an hour more time.

Google maps and Nevada

Having driven quite a bit around eastern and central NV, here's the truth: Google maps, Mapquest and most GPS-based nav systems do not know the fastest way from point A to point B in central/eastern NV.
Especially in the summertime, when many of the dirt county roads can get you there in substantially less time than going the long way around on federal roads.

On the same note of driving times - what about Ely to Yosemite National Park?
I played around on Google Maps and made it as short as possible using a lot of smaller roads and it appears to be about 375 miles. Is that an easy drive? Is 6.5 hours a good estimate of driving time?

Ive never been to Yosemite, but I did go from Ely to Bishop once. IIRC, it was a little under 5 hrs, so another hour and a half seems about right. Most likely 6 hours.
