Default Driving thru Nevada in Oct.

We are driving from Charlotte, N.C. to Reno and back in Oct. Are there plenty of Motels and Gas Stations between Las Vegas and Reno. We shall be driving Highway 95 up to 50 then make our way up to Reno.

It's a 7-hour drive; can be done in one day. If you had to break it up, there are some motels at the midway point - Tonapah, but nothing very nice.

You only need one stop, at Tonopah, gas and McDonalds, two more stops,, Beatty at the candy store, and Hawthorne McDonalds to stretch your legs.

Hard to believe McDonalds is the best eating along 95 but it is.

I have stayed at the Tonopah Station twice and thought it was a nice hotel with a casino and coffe shop/restaurant/bar. This was a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the note. So it looks like we should try to stay overnight around Las Vegas and then drive the seven hours to Reno. I am sure there must be plenty of motels on the outskirts of Vegas without staying on the strip.

Thanks for your note. Looks like if we stay on the outskirts of Las Vegas overnight, we can then drive into Reno. The Mac is not one of my favorite places to eat but if need be.

Good point GBG; most of the Big Macs I've eaten in my life were purchased at the Tonapah McDonalds.
