Oregon Coast to Nevada relocation
Hello, I live in a small town (4,000 pop) on the Oregon Coast, I'm 30 years old and have lived here my whole life. My ex moved to Vegas with my two children and I can't stand being this far away from them, Here's the deal, I don't want to live in Vegas or any other big city. I know the weather is going to be a drastic change in climate, We get 70 inches of rain evey year and I will miss living on the beach but I miss my kids more. I would like to find a small town (10,000 or less) within a two hour or so drive from Vegas. I'm am what you call a country boy, I like shooting, fishing, camping that sort of thing. The Sierra Nevada mountains look beautiful, I don't know, any advice would be welcomed thank you.

If the predominant Mormon influence is acceptable, St. George, Utah would probably offer the best potential employment opportunities. Way above your 10,000 population criteria, but employment should be a higher priority.

Don't know if you're looking to buy or rent, what your budget is, etc., but you could look at Pahrump or Mt. Charleston.

I'm from Netarts, it's a small coastal community six miles west of Tillamook. I would be looking to rent, and as far as employment, I do concrete by trade so somewhere there is construction going on would be really helpfull can you get a small house or appartment for $600-$700 a month? thanks.

Look at Lincoln County (Caliente, Pioche, Panaca, Alamo), anywhere from 100 miles (Alamo) to about 170 miles (Pioche) from Vegas. Also, you could look at Ely, a little further at 250 miles, but bigger population (about 5000) than any of the Lincoln county towns.
Looking at your work, you may be best off in Mesquite or St. George, as the other towns dont have much in the way of construction/industry. If Coyote Springs ever gets going, Alamo may be a good base, but I dont expect that to get going for years, if ever now.
