Hello,
I am planning to move to Las Vegas from Los Angeles. I will be traveling back and forth for business but mainly staying in LV. Therefore, it would be convenient for me to keep CA and have NV license.

I have done a little bit of research regarding keeping my California driver license and Nevada one. It seems that it is no problem if I am not a federal employee? I cannot find further information on how I can obtain the NV license without trading in my California one. Can anyone shed some light on this, any problem doing so? Do I just go into NV DMV and request to take the road test again?

Thanks.

"Items Needed for Typical Transfers

DRIVER LICENSE

Your Valid, State-Issued Driver License or ID Card
This must contain your name and date of birth. You must surrender this and it will be returned to your previous state for cancellation."
. . source

Seems like holding multiple state drivers licenses would violate the federal Real ID Act.

You can't even get a Nevada ID to take advantage of the locals discounts....it's one state ID or the other.

Would you mind how you go about obtaining both?

You have to surrender your CA license at the NV DMV...they then report back that you have a NV license now and your CA license is gone. At least, that's what I did.
