No way, the gaming lobby is too powerful in the state. All they have to do is snap their fingers and all the Clark County legistators will vote no under threat of the unions not voting for them for reelection. Besides, with so many ways and places to lose your money in this state, does anyone think the lottery could suceed?

I think a lottery can succeed. Some people will not go to casinos but have no problem buying a lottery ticket at the gas station or convenience store.

I think it would stand a chance. Like for me... I do not play slots or tables.... I haven't been into a casino in a long time, and when I was, it was to get to a restaurant. BUT once a week, I go to Verdi and buy 2 lotto tickets. It's fun to do that. But you won't catch me in front of a slot machine. Not my thing.

The only problem with lottery proceeds is how they divvy it up. I know that when CA started their lottery, the schools were going to get $$ for programs "not currently in existance". Alot of schools cut extracurricular activities--only to find they didn't get as much $$ as they were getting from the regular state budget. By then, it was too late to reinstate those programs.
