Nevada Energy - how do non-US-citizens get hooked up?
Hi, my dad's a Canadian citizen who has bought a condo in Nevada.
We're looking for advice with respect to Nevada Energy. Can anyone explain in simple terms how a non-US citizen who holidays in Nevada goes about getting Nevada Power to hook them up?
The amount of hoops my dad's had to jump through with these people has been insane, and have been totally fruitless so far. .
AT THEIR REQUEST, he's sent them faxed copies of his notarized driver's licence and Canadian birth certificate (faxed copies of notarized documents? Kinda defeats the purpose, but it's what they asked for). But now they're saying the documentation THAT THEY REQUESTED is insufficient and that he needs some sort of US immigration document (proof of citizenship, or landed immigrant status) in order to get his power hooked up.
They also asked for his US social security number (which, being a Canadian, he obviously doesn't have)... He didn't need ANY of this info in order to BUY the damn condo... why the hell should he need it to get power hooked up?!
Can anybody offer advice on how the hell to deal with these people? Or how he can get power legally hooked up without having to become a friggin' US citizen? Nevada Energy seems a little ridiculous with the information they're requesting.
Thanks for your time.
