Default seeking advice for surviving US 93 from Wendover to Arizona

Hi there! I once posted before seeking advice for a winter drive up 93 but that plan never worked out. Now I have the opportunity to attempt it during the summer. In July I'm going from Tucson to Salt Lake City for a wedding and my husband and I have allowed this trip plan to turn into a bit of a monster that includes the Bonneville Salt Flats and a heck of a lot of driving. We'd be spending a night in West Wendover and he wants to take 93 back to Arizona. I'm intrigued but nervous, being a city dweller. We plan to rent a car to spare either of our rickety cars from breaking down. What advice do any of you sagebrush dwellers have for surviving and enjoying hundreds of miles of lonely US 93? Thanks!

Bring lots of water and something to keep you entertained (CD's, ipod, sat radio). Also, outside of the "major" towns, there is limited cell service. Taking the Lund bypass (US 6 to NV 318 saves you about 40 miles between Ely and Ash Springs/Alamo, but you miss the scenic little towns of Pioche and Caliente. Also, there are alot of trucks, so watch out. You will see alot of trucks on the stretch from Wendover to Ely because they truck the mining ore from Ely to Wendover. If you have a little bit of time, check out the Northern Nevada Railway museum in Ely.
