Default Please help: Road trip. Need your top 5 or so fun places to visit in NV

ROAD TRIP...Please Help: I need to know your Top 5 (or so) fun places to visit your great state. We will be traveling by car and have three kids, ages 11, 8, and 6. Might be bringing the dog too.

Any good ideas of the "must sees". We love all types of things indoor and outdoor, nature, adventure, etc..... Plan to travel, end of July - beginning of August. We are starting from southern CA and trying to see parts of NV, UT, ID, MT and Northern CA.

And yes, I know it's crazy! hee hee
Thank you!

What route are you taking? Personally, I think Lake Tahoe is about the most beautiful area of the state. Lehman Caves/Great Basin NP in Baker on the NV/UT border would be another choice. Cathedral Gorge state park just outside of Panaca is a great photo spot. The kids might enjoy a ride on the Old #93 steam engine at the Nevada Norther Railway Museum in Ely. And be just like everyone else and drive Las Vegas Boulevard past all the casinos. Im sure there are a million other great places to visit, somebody will for sure list all the ones I forgot about.

1) Lemoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains - Drive to the end of the road and follow the trail up five miles up to the various alpine lakes.

2) Cross over the mountains to the Ruby Meadows. One of the most remote of the National Forests.

3) University of Nevada area of Reno - Wilbur May museum, Nevada Historical Society. mineral museum in the McKay school of mining.

4) Carson City - state capital, Carson City Mint, etc.

Hope that helps.

I have been through the whole state and there are only 3 places that are worth seeing. The rest of the state is desolate.

1. Vegas, of course.

2. Reno.

3. Lake Tahoe.

I would not bother with anywhere else.

Sorry of the 20 top places in NV 19 are in Las Vegas.

and the other one is in Utah.

Stark, haunting cerebral places we got. "Fun"? YOu gotta be kidding.

I guess there is the annual tarantula migration in Gabbs. But that is about it.

Well I lied a little. Tahoe is nice too.

Thank you for your wonderful insight . We'd rather not bother with your kind in the rest of the state anyways.

I cant think of 19 places worth visiting in Vegas. You know what, you keep you 19 places in Vegas and the people who can apreciate natural beauty and history that isnt used as a tacky casino theme can have the rest of the state.

Love it. Now please your definition of "fun" places...

If you can't think of 19 places in Vegas you are likely unable to find your way to the bathroom.

I can find 20 neat places in Red Rock Canyon...And another 30 in Valley of the Fire...

More than Las Vegas, take the kids to Boulder Dam, a spectacular feat of engineering.

In Lake Tahoe, the kids should go for a ride on a paddlewheeler, and visit Fanny Bridge in Tahoe City. Don't miss Emerald Bay.
