Always will be a "they say" versus "they say" issue. This fellow was running for political office several years ago but never made it past the primary . . did seem to have some water resource ideas worth considering however.
Doesn't sound like the desert southwest is compatible with your preferences . . might consider Atlanta GA.

TO wizfourfam
hi--i checked back and saw some responses so that is good-
the model i picked was the lilac.closeness did not bother me as i have been living in a condo for over 2 yrs-as long as i do not have to do yard work i do not care-my days of big yards are over!
and when we were there last jan,07 i talked to a water utility employee and he told me mesquite WILL NOT have a water problem-that big developments have to show and prove there is a sufficient supply of water and they had there own aquafier as you stated and all development approved will have water supply-so whatever that is worth.
hope some one responds to your post-and all have a great day.

ROFLMBO
I wouldn't consider Atlanta at all cause of the humidity. The water issues there are something else.
You have to understand, right after we really got serious about Mesquite, DH visited in December. Right after that was the big flood! Have water concerns...... Any one want to pay us NOT to move?? LOL

Benny,
I love the Lilac too, we are also considering the Aster and Laurel. We also love the Iris with the internal courtyard....but as always $$ is a factor. I was concerned about having windows looking right into your neighbors home, don't think I want to live in the dark with blinds closed all the time! LOL Can't afford the golf course lots....what I really want is one of the models with a VIEW! <dreaming>
Thanks for your response, I appreciate it!

wizfourfam-we paid a premium for a lot with a view-our back yard is elevated so no one is behind us-and yes as always money is a issue.
we will be sno birds so we wanted to stay somewhat modest to be able to do what we want and not alter our life style in retirement, and with 2 properties you can get expences up there real quick, and heck in this phase of my life that is very livable for us-had the big houses and lots all thru my life when kids were still home so this downsize we can live with-and we will be out of wi. for the winter so that is what is important to us .we will not be out there till next oct-nov-08 our place is due to be built in may so 1 more winter!
thanks for the responses and maybe we can get this forum a little more active.

If it wasn't so awkward to fill out the consent sheet, I would take my 49cc scooter . . use it frequently for Wal-Mart and Smiths grocery runs.
Nevada DMV information . . Low Speed Vehicles/Golf Carts
Mesquite Code . . TITLE 6 - CHAPTER 6: ELECTRIC LOW SPEED VEHICLES
Related flu shot DVT article . .

Mesquite, NV
Thumper,
The builders in Highland Vistas are wonderful! They are now offering custom changes too. They have much better quality of homes than Del Webb Sun City Mesquite/Pulte. Even though the cost per sq ft is higher to live in Highland Vistas; (Mesa Hills/Highland Hills, Suncrest, Shadowcrest) you get a much better home, yard, all of your landscaping is taken care of every week, plus you get included cable, trash pick up, insect extermination. The Highland Vistas communities are all gated with a lot less traffic. We looked up in Del Webb too, but those lots are way too small and the area is so congested. They also have a lot of "hidden" upgrade costs in their homes that these builders include. The sales in Highland Vistas are really picking up. 17 homes have been built in Suncrest, 8 spec homes have sold in Mesa Hills & Highland Hills, plus a few empty lots are now being built on. All of the resales that were listed over the summer have sold. You were here at the slowest time of year...come back for a visit soon before our nice little subdivision sells out!

The problem I have is the pricing is MUCH more than Del Webb. I wish they would build a smaller, more reasonably priced home.

Sun City Mesquite
Hi Everyone-
I have loved getting insiders' view about Mesquite. My husband and I were in Vegas a few weeks ago and took a trip out to Sun City Mesquite. We havae driven through Mesquite, but this was the first time we have made it a destination. We had lunch in a small local restaurant and the staff was very friendly.
After lunch we headed over to visit the model homes in Sun City. We currently live in a Pulte home (114 homes in the development), and we have had a great experience with this builder. This is part of the reason the Del Webb homes are appealing to us.
Mesquite is appealing because it does seem to have a growth plan and everything will be new but the incredible views are timeless. We are very active and love the idea that Veas is an hour down the road and Zion is an hour North. Skiing is fairly close (should we want to go) and we hope to have a pool that we can use more than three months a year. I have been reading a lot about the sand storms---- sounds like they could reek havoc on a pool.... are ppok covers a must during the "sand" season?
Is there anyone on this thread who currently lives in one of these homes? For those of you building homes-- how far out is your building timeline(e.g., If you signed a contract in September, when will your house be ready?) We would be in our mid-fifties moving in. On the day we toured there seemed to be a variety of folks aged 50's to 70's---- does anyone know if the ages of folks buying varied? I love the fact that there will be a rec area and golf course, as well.
We live in New England and in about 3 years we hope to relocate to the sunny southwest. About 5 years ago we started thinking about PRescott, AZ--- pricing was very similar to Sun City-- however, at that time we were pretty far from retirement (about 8 years) and did not want to have a second property that far away. Long story short, those prices have almost doubled and that pretty much took Prescott off our list. We visit Sedona every year--- the landscape of Mesquite reminds me a little of Sedona (the red color of the flat top mesa) and St George reminds me a lot of Sedona.
Any more inside info regarding your experiences living in or planning to live in SUn City would be greatly appreciated.
Joan
