My husband & I just returned from our first trip across Nevada ~ from home in the Sierra Nevada foothills to the Utah border. Drove Hwy 50 and loved the wide open spaces and big, gorgeous mountains. Lots to see and do for those of us who love being outside. We hope to move to the Great Basin area. We live on solar power now. We'd have have solar AND wind in Eastern NV. Nice highways, nice people and plenty of open space. Lots to learn about high desert living and harder winters.

They're moving from California in droves. Hawaii too. I hope they keep coming. I want my house value to go back up. Prices are cheap here compared to those two places. The weather is great 8 out of 12 months. No income tax, and low property tax. A lot of pedophiles and fugitives, and gangs but those are in California too. In fact, California invented them. You have access the places you mentioned. I drive to the beach in So Cal all the time. One more thing, there's nothing for fires to burn here so you don't have to worry about the huge wildfires that plague Cali.

We escaped Southern CA and moved to Vegas in July, mainly due to the out of control taxes and regulations there. NV is not perfect, but we're loving it and couldn't be happier.

I've been living in Vegas last 15 years. A vast majority of the people I know here are from California. At unemployement 13%, I don't know if more people want to move here. It doesn't matter whatever happens I will not move

I can't agree more. However, isn't this true for our nation as a whole? Why are we in this mess? Why else would most citizens vote for Bush TWICE other than the fact that they do not research the candidates (or are not interested in researching the candidates). It is very unfortunate that most people can't discern between what sounds good (but is actually phony) and what is actually good for our country.

Thank you for the info; it's very helpful. However, can you expand on the idea that California invented pedophiles, fugitives and gangs?

Exactly. Look what "hope, change, change, hope" and other vacuous slogans can do for someone nowadays

Business is best in NV!!!
Several of us "Ex-Calli's" have found the Nevada Business climate much better than in our old home State...Calli has chased all of us to the hills; high taxes, crazy workman's comp, Insurance premiums thru the roof, payroll tax gone nuts...You name it, and they tax it in Calli!!! Just raised payroll taxes another 10% in the Golden State (youch!!!)...Nevada may have it's quirks, but business climate is awesome...I am an Insurance Broker (with only a few employees) and it forced me to leave the State. mod cut: link removed (I Love NV!!!)
