WELL, I guess the old saying is true for me…”Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!” To me, the beauty of a place is in it’s natural beauty. Its forests, or lakes, or like where I grew up in Half Moon Bay, California, the ocean…or, where I lived at Lake Tahoe, Nevada, before my job forced me to move to Carson City.
FACT: you will not find any of those things here.
FACT: The surrounding hills are bare, and in the late Spring, turn brown. FACT: Hot and windy is the average day during the Summer. Average High for July 2009: 91, COLD: December 2009 minimum: 16 below zero. Average low: +15. Mean: +27. Ref:

FACT: There are trees here but few, if any, are naturally found here. Yes! Home owners’ plant lawns here! Note this photo taken in the mid 1800 where the State Capitol is now located.:

FACT: This is exactly what you would expect of a city that has grown-up in the High Desert. FACT: The long-time residents here are some of the best people you will ever meet!…and that is a big plus! ! !
Best of luck on your move! We too are planning on a move!..Back to the Lake at Zephyr Cove!

Default Carson City

I've been to Carson City many times and I find it a very nice place to live. You do have to remember that most of Nevada is high desert and there will be scrub brushes and/or no grass at all. It's all up to the homeowner to take care of his or her property. I, too, would perfer grass but at least with no grass, you don't have to do maintance.

Carson is the state capitol and is a very friendly town, with a mix of people. it is central to both Reno and Tahoe which is ideal if you do not want to travel from tahoe to reno in the winter and if you do not want to be int he city of Reno. It's 20 mins either way and has loads of shopping. Since it is the desert its very hard to keep gardens green since they get much less snow an rain then tahoe.
