I have a Workman's Comp question I hope someone can help me with.

Is it *law* that a Workman's Comp Insurance company in Nevada can require you to "pick" one doctor/dentist from "their list" for you to go to?

...and after you pick that one doctor/dentist and get an exam from him you must use them even if you don't agree with their diagnosis?

I want to use my dentist, but he is not on "their list"
I went to him on my own and he did an exam and said because of fractures in the remaining part of the tooth I need a crown. He said bonding would cause problems in a few years.

My dentist gave a quote of $1200 and said he would do the work for what ever they paid - they said no.

I just can't believe that a insurance company can limit my choice of dentists to a "one pick" lottery draw from *their" list of providers.

Can they?

I don't want to pay for a legal consultation if it is senseless,... and I don't know any lawyers. If it is really the *law* in Nevada as they say, I thought someone here might have had experience with it.

It just seems so weird that they can pick your doctor(dentist in my case) with the claimant has no say on something so important to their well being. As a business (AIG) I am sure that price is the most important consideration for them while for me the quality and the life of the work is the most important.

I work in a business where my appearance is important and this my large front tooth... I haven't been able to smile in over a month. :-(
