NH draws several million more tourists than Vermont & Maine per year so I'm not sold on this branding idea. Branding can be very expensive, and if you don't hit a home-run with the slogan then you have very little to show for the money spent.

If they are having difficulty creating a NH 'brand' that is because NH is not the kind of place which has traditionally appreciated the dilution and generalizations which result from descention into identification as a marketable trend.

The fact that they 'are not touching' our time honored traditional cri de couer is telling in itself.

"New Hampshire is no slouch in tourism. In fiscal year 2008, the state had 33.8 million visitors. That is compared with Vermont’s 14.3 million visitors (in calendar year 2007, its most recent statistics), and Maine’s 31.8 million visitors."

Why worry about "branding" NH? It seems as if the state is doing well enough on it's own without branding....

just a thought.

Do we not already have at least brand-like qualities without the big money spent pushing it? Everyone knows the White Mountains, Maple Syrup, the lakes, etc. NH Made is also a selling point for me...

Does VT spend a lot marketing? I doubt it...yet they said the name does carry some weight; and in my experience it does here too.

That said, thanks to the OP for posting this for us all to view/contemplate.

I've got it!!!! since NH really doesn't like spending money unless it has to (well the people, even if the legislature is a bit off-kilter) and is proud of it's "use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without" lifestyle...

For Life! For Love! For Vacations! NH: the Cheap-State!!]!

We could use;
"Come get branded in NH".....
Every tourist coming in state could be hot iron branded at the toll plazas, or the hotels/campsites they stay at.

That way, we could create a cencus of the most heavily touristed areas in NH by identifying the brands.
