Can anyone tell me what Auburn is like? It seems so convenient to Manchester, 40 minutes from the seacoast, 50 minutes from Boston and has Lake Massabesic, but you don't read or hear much about it. Anyone want to shed some light on living in Auburn.

I've been living in Auburn since 1999. It's a commuter town that is very close to major highways (93, 101, 293). It has a small town feel and there is much to do if you like being outdoors. There is an extensive trail system, several lakes (although you can't swim in them as they're a water source), and most developments have plots 1 1/2 acres or more. My own neighborhood pets include a baby bald eagle, several foxes, a pack of coyotes, 3 flocks of wild turkeys (totalling 31 birds), a few fisher cats, deer, moose, herons, etc. If you crave culture, Manchester is a 15 minute drive to downtown. For the most part, it's a 15 minute drive to anything you do (groceries, movies, shops, etc.). It's 45 minutes to the seacoast and 45 minutes to the mountains. We absolutely love it here and find people very willing to help each other out. Excellent environment to raise your kids in!
