It's well past that point now. Going up Rt 16 so far as shopping is concerned it's ok for that, but the shopping ends before the city starts sort of. Then if you close both eyes and pass thru the city you can find a few more shops, and then enter the Great Nawth Woods, which is worth it, but to want to live in Berlin is a bad idea.

Unless of course ugly seems like a good thing. As it was last time I passed thru it looked just like Berlin Germany in 1944, a bombed out hell. The idea of a shiney new Fedral Pen doesn't exaclty bring thoughts of nice to me either.

Another way to look at it might be a really cold New Orleans right after katria. It's that bad. The best thing I can say is it won't smell like a paper mill town again, which was just a nasty stench. But then I wonder what's in the ground and below town in the river.
