Default Back to "Roots"

Greetings from Burgundy (France)! We are an American couple who has lived in Europe for the past 25 and 15 years respectively (France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Sweden...).

We are currently "homeless", and are renting for the summer. Looking at the RE market here on the high side, and with the euro currently at a 40% plus valuation to the US dollar, we are considering finding our way back to New England.

We are doing some initial research on the net between NH, ME, MA, VT - we prefer the coast....

What can you all say about the pros of NH living to the other states I mentioned? We would like to meet some friendly people, - maybe a university town for the added benefits.

thanks for your feedback,

Amo

Hi Amo,
Durham, NH is a university town and is quite near the seacoast. I'd consider that if you want to move to NH. I live in Portsmouth, which obviously by the name is right on the seacoast. It's about 15 minutes drive from Durham. Probably of no concern to you, but it's pretty pricey around here, home wise. Just an FYI.
Good luck!
Kim

The university town closest to the seacoast of NH is Durham, but also consider Lee and Madbury (all part of the Oyster River school district, one of the highest rated in the country!) Home to University of New Hampshire, Durham has quite a bit to offer. Other nearby towns to consider are Exeter (great new high school, nice walkable downtown) A nice thing is that all of these are close to Route 95 (to get to Boston, Maine) or 101 (to get to western parts of the state: Manchester/Nashua). A great area to consider
