My wife and I are excited to be moving to the Hanover/Lebanon area this summer to start new jobs. We are looking to rent initially and want to get some feedback on rentals in the Hanover/Lebanon area- any comments on Gile Hill apts/townhomes, the commons at slient brook, or any other favorably reputed rental opportunities that you may know of. We would like to lean toward townhomes/condos but are flexible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
You might want to look at Eastman. A housing association in Grantham NH which is just down I89 a couple of exits from Hanover/Lebanon. It has it's own lake and golf course and lots of hiking trails. There is also tons of rental opportunities from condos, town houses and single family houses of all sizes.
Thanks checking out Eastman now and it looks nice. Are families common in the area, we have 2 toddlers. Sorry not to take over the thread.
Eastman used to be more of an seasonal recreational area. Now there are lots of year rounders and families. The kids that live in Eastman go to the Grantham elementary which is a really decent school.
Eastman has A LOT of rules (very much a "homeowners association" type place) -- which may or may not be your cup of tea -- but you should be aware of it.
we are also moving in June, young couple with a new baby. We were looking at Timberwood Commons and Emerson Place Apartments. Any suggestions?
Both of these complexes are very nice (and rather pricey). Emerson Place is in a great location, practically next door to the CCBA recreational center, rail trail, and just a couple of blocks to downtown restaurants, Post Office, schools, etc.
Timberwood is a bit closer to DHMC, but not on a very pedestrian-friendly road. With a new baby, you might want Emerson for the convenience of being able to walk everywhere.
I can't swear to this, but I think Emerson has elevators but Timberwood may not. I lived in a 4th floor walkup in NYC with my son when he was just a baby, and it sure was hard lugging all that baby stuff upstairs :-)
Do you have pets? I think Timberwood has a dog building, but Emerson won't allow them.
You could live in Vermont and still work/play in NY. A lot of people live in Wilder or White River Junction which are both close to Lebanon or Hanover. Wilder is about 10 minutes (or less) drive from Hanover and probably cheaper.
There is at least one complex that takes dogs.
