I can get a better hoagie in Publix-made with Boar's Head-than I get anywhere in NH. I like Sharky's and Bogie's. I know I am forgetting some too.
I must admit that maybe I don't know anything about CheeseSteaks - philly style. I haven't tried Fratelli's but I like Luna's pizza. Amores is pretty good. I will have to try the cheesesteak to see what I am missing. The publix subs(hoagies) are pretty good. I just like to be able to go to a sub shop - in and out instead of a grocery store. I don't wanna go to Subway or Quiznos unless I'm desperate at an airport. Sharky's I like for the view and the drinks - the food I can take it or leave it. Bogies - best sports bar around. It's kind of weird here that you go to Bogies when your team is playing. During NFL playoffs you would have to wait while previous team/fans cleared out if you were the 2nd game. I have got into wings lately. The best ones, hands down, are at a bar in Port Charlotte called Gatorz on the trail.

You know Venice.......

Pizzaria Regina is very very good. Just my style. We had a very good greek style pizza place near us in Manchester (main st Pizza) but they closed down before we moved. I prefer Ny style pizza but a good greek style will do in a pinch. I find that a lot of pizza are too thick, undercooked , bland sauce...

good talking to ya

what about taxes and house price? weather? access to shopping? so NH is more conservative than Vermont? how is land valued? lIf Ilived in Alton, chances are, my neighbors would be? and in Burlington?

With no state income tax, what does Vermont offer in return? cheaper housing or property taxes? free cheese?

Land in NH is quite expensive. NH is more conservative than VT. For now anyway but that is another story. VT used to be conservative many moons ago until a lot of New York liberals moved in. I thnk parts of VT's Northeast Kingdom are "fairly" conservative.

Alton is a big vacation area as it is along the big lake. There are year rounders and also expensive vacation homes. I thought I remember someone-woman-posting on these boards a while ago and she said that she lived in Alton-maybe she will read and give you feedback.

Vermont has a state income tax-New Hampshire does not. I have been over to Vermont in the winter and IMHO they do a lousy job on their roads. We left NH a day or two after a storm. NH 89 & 91 was down to black top. VT-91 was a death trap-we thought we were going to get into an accident. I have been there other times in bad weather too and was not impressed with the road clearing. They probably spend more on social programs than roads in a state as "progressive" as Vermont.

Houses Are about the same in Price. And there property Taxes Are Not that much different than NH. Having Family there I can tell you that They are only a couple Hundred Different than NH. Check Northern New England Real Estate Network - Official Website of the Northern New England MLS it will have Prices and Taxes Etc. In Alton Your Neighbors would be Educated and Friendly On a conservative side but not Bible thumpers. And for the most part accepting of you regardless as long as you don't force your views.
In Burlington Your Neighbors would be Very Liberal. Like Key your car If you have a republican Logo on it. Very Crunchy for the most part. Not all But alot. And Very friendly (as long as you share there views) Weather I answered. And as for shopping you have basically the same thing just alot smaller versions. Mall In Manchester
Mall of New Hampshire makes shopping easy and convenient. Favorite department stores Macy's, JCPenney, Sears, and Best Buy, anchor Mall of New Hampshire. The mall also offers 125 specialty stores, 4 full-service restaurants, and a 550-seat Food Court.
While the U Mall In Burlington Has 85 stores that include the Food Court and Anchor stores. It is the Largest Mall In VT by the way., Sorry I couldn't get more info on it like the Mall of NH but there site isn't the best. Anyway I hope this helps.

If would say NH is more "Normal" than VT. Conservative vs liberal is debatable.
