Cell Coverage
I dont think this has been addressed from what I have seen. Does NH have the same problems with cell phone coverage as Vermont does? What are the best carriers in NH? Does Keene get good cell repection? Is the Iphone available in NH, as it is not available in Vermont. Sorry if it has been asked before, I did a search and couldnt find anything on it.

Well I do know its sketchy as you get to northern NH I dunno about vermont, I have cingular here in Keene and I've always got 6 bars , never had a problem with reception, that was the reason we got our phones when welived in Fla becasue they seemed to have pretty good coverage in So. NH. When I get more towards Concord, and hour north I loose coverage , esp in the mountains.

We never have a problem with Verizon anywhere up and down the east coast, and even up north in NH there was no problem.

Verizon is the king of coverage throughout New England, EXCEPT in the northern parts of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. They will be changing that within the next year with the purchase of Unicel, who has the largest Licensed Area there, and generally has the best coverage in those areas.
You can either sign up with Verizon and enjoy the new coverage, probably by early next year, or you can sign up with Unicel and then be converted over to a Verizon customer, later.

Sounds like Verizon is the way to go. I like the iPhone, but I don't like it's limited ability to be used by only 1 carrier, and it's internet capability is over hyped as well.
I'm a Macintosh user (the main home computer is a pc however) so I do have my eye on the iPhone, but I think it could have been better.

I have T-Mobile, and in Southern NH it has very spotty reception. I can just barely get one or two bars at my parents house in Hollis, but other than Amherst & Nashua... it's pretty much dead. I'm not sure if T-Mobile covered Keene - I think they do, but everything between Keene (including Peterborough!) and Hollis is empty - I had a sales guy check their service map.
My realtor uses US Cellular and she was able to get phone calls when T-Moblie would not (standing side by side).

Being in Northern NH, And From Southern NH. I Must Say US Cellular, is by far the best coverage. I have used Verizon, Sprint/ Nextel, ATT, And US Cellular. With Verizon You loose all after Franconia Notch, except for pockets in the Littleton are. Unicel Has Bad coverage in most the state. Does Good Along the coast, but is spotty while you travel. I will say with US Cellular. You do want there National plan. it is only 10 bucks more but I have never lost a call. No one has Coverage North of Groveton. But there are towers going up next year. And YES NH coverage is Far better than VT. I am In VT all the time, and unless your Near a city, well 4000 plus area( IN VT this is a city) You will get very spotty coverage. They fight towers like they fought walmart 10 years ago. But If you get a TRI- mode Phone and the right plan To include roaming, you will have good coverage regardless. As all use others towers. It just comes down to Phone and cost. Anything North of Lower Groveton is out of play right now. But they don't even have DSL in most towns north of Plymouth yet. LOL I am Lucky enough to be in Lancaster after us there is NO DSL. There are places up here without Land lines still. But that is Alot farther North.

We have Verizon and with the exception of a 1 mile stretch near our home it has worked Meredith and south--haven't gone much above Meredith since we returned so will need to find that out.

We had Verizon when we first moved up here and it was terrible (we are up north) - we canceled the plan almost immediately since we basically had no coverage and didn't have to pay the company any cancellation fees, etc. - just to activate the phones we had to leave the house to find reception!
We now have Unicel and it seems to work well from Littleton south...haven't been through VT since we got it, so don't know about there, but it has worked in Littleton, Jefferson, Lincoln and down to Lebanon, Maine with no problems except for one spot going through Franconia notch for maybe a minute or less.
I think it depends on the phone, too - hubby's is newer than mine and he has much better coverage than I do. Once Unicel is merged/bought out/whatever someone said we will need new phones, so that's when I'll get a new one which should give me better coverage....I hope
