I lived in New London many years ago. It is similar today. It is just about all single-family homes, except for the dorms at the college. There have also been many new retirement homes built.
I would see if the housing office at Colby-Sawyer College can help you. Will you have a car? If so, also try the Upper Valley News and Argus-Champion newspapers. Your best bet might be a room to rent and having a car will give you more options. It's a nice town and a pretty wealthy one. Good luck!

In New London there is a free weekly "Shopper" delivered to every mailbox which is read enthusiastically each Wednesday by New Londoners. Apartment rentals, yard sales, personal messages, town happenings, etc. The "Shopper" has nothing but ads, no copy at all, and it is a good read!
This last week's Shopper had a two-bedroom apartment on Main Street in New London for $750 month, a two-bedroom ranch for $800, and a three-level "open concept apartment" for $850 - ad didn't mention number of bedrooms.
If you plan to rent during winter, please make sure heat is included in the rent - temperatures in January can go to minus 20 degrees for two weeks straight.

Also try the Concord Monitor online and Colby realty (they have the most listings in the area and an office in New London)
Also in the last several years we have not reached minus 20 for even a day. The winters are "new england" typical but nowhere as extreme as previously posted here. Though heat included is always a good thing.

Concord, of course, is 11 and 12 highway exits south of New London, and I've never seen an ad in the Concord Monitor for real estate in New London. And, I said that temperatures can get to minus 20, not that it will next winter, as it certainly has in the New London area in recent winters.
Since the OP wants to rent, not purchase, and is not looking for a vacation rental per se, but perhaps sharing a rental, I don't agree with your advice on using a rental-expensive and paperwork-intensive realty.

Have you tried searching or posting at craigslist: new hampshire classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events ?
If someone is looking to rent or share a room, that's a great place to start. I do have a contact who lives/works in New London. I'll send an email to see if she knows of a rental in town. If she does, I'll PM you her contact info

As a resident living in the Kearsarge District I can assure you that there is not much options for news papers. The Kearsarge Shopper usually has a few rental properties listed.
New Hampshire you might want to get a new thermometer.

I know that this post is old.
I am an incoming freshman @ Colby-Sawyer College.
I was wondering if there were other students, who would like to rent out a house / apartment with me, so we can save 10,000 / yr from living off campus. If you're interested my e-mail is Smilby09@yahoo.com Only e-mail me if you are interested.
