Music Guy is on a distinguished road
Default Tell me about Nashua

I am in the running for a full-time church music job in Nashua. Looking at city-data's profile, Nashua seems moderate in price compared to surrounding towns. However, I have read some posts from this forum which makes Nashua sound bad.

What is the truth? Are there surrounding towns that are inexpensive? What is Nashua like? Can you live there peacefully?

Thanks,
Joe

P.S. We live in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio.

kimik is on a distinguished road
Hi, I am also looking to relocate to Nashua. Im looking at apartments in the Spitbrook Road section. I have discovered that there downtown is quite nice, and the people are very cordial. But, I also need info about the "real Nashua. I live in Haverhill, MA now and I hate it. I hope Nashua is better.

Arrow Nashua...

Nashua's not a bad place at all, like any other city of its size, you need to be aware of your surroundings, especially after dark. Plenty to do in Nashua, tons of restaurants, shopping galore along the DW Highway, Amherst Street, etc. You can certainly live peacefully in Nashua, the Bicentennial area is one of the best,

Some surrounding towns are Hudson, Litchfield, Merrimack and Hollis. Doubtful that any except for Hudson would be less expensive. Hollis is big $$, taxes are huge.. (not so much of a consideration if you are renting, but you're going to pay one way or another)

What part of Haverhill are you in Kimik? I'm very familiar with Haverhill, having lived there once upon a time myself. I just heard that the new Comeau Bridge has FINALLY opened. Hopefully that makes Merrimack Street traffic better... There of course are some areas that I don't miss at all like White Street/Winter Street, the Acre (4th thru 7th Ave's), Franklin Street, etc. There are some GREAT neighborhoods in Haverhill that people forget about, and the Victorian Homes are beautiful along Mill Street (the back side of Plugs Pond) and all the side streets up to Winnikenni Park (Most people don't know that Haverhill has its own castle!) Oops, sorry for going off-track there!

Long story short: Nashua-Yes, it's do-able. Lots of rentals available... lots of homes available. Nice that we live in the age of online shopping, you can check things out without having to drive there (but driving through is necessary to get the "feel" for the neighborhood. Feel free to PM me for any more info on places to live. I live just a couple of towns away from Nashua...
