NH is a "shall issue" state for concealed carry pistol permits. No permits needed for long arms.

You do not need a permit to purchase or own or open carry . Of course to purchase from a FFL dealer you have to pass the NICs federal background check. Also, Firearms are not registered as they are in the non-Free States like California, Mass, NJ, etc...

I used to live in Mass., it was a breath of fresh air to move from there to a Free State....

I believe packing.org website may provide some advice on firearms transportation when you are traveling/moving, and the rules for each State...

A provision of federal law serves as a defense to state or local laws which would prohibit the passage of persons with firearms in interstate travel.

Notwithstanding any state or local law, a person shall be entitled to transport a firearm from any place where he may lawfully possess and transport such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and transport such firearm if the firearm is unloaded and in the trunk. In vehicles without a trunk, the unloaded firearm shall be in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.

That is exactly what we needed to know! woot! thank you HIKERLT!!! one positive rep point for you my dear!
