Default Response to Sevdie

I started a thread of my own in the Maine forum. It was very informative and it has been going for quite some time. You might find some useful information in there. It's simply titled Thinking of Moving to Maine. As for specific areas, I started my search in the greater Portland area and a few surrounding areas. It was very helpful and I think Maine is a great place to consider. However, it depends on what you're looking for of course. The reason I came into the New Hampshire forum is because I was a little scared off by some of the comments regarding income and cost of living in Maine. I've put my search on hold for now, however, before doing so, I did somewhat decide that NH might be the better choice for us. Good luck with whichever state you choose!!!

Hi there, I live in Littleton, NH and just wanted to let you know, it is wonderful to grow up in in such a friendly community. When we moved up here. My daughter was the "new kid" in the first few weeks of school, they had a poster contest here in Littleton, through the fire department. In which the childern had to design a poster, showing the dangers of open flame on candles. Well, my daughter won the contest and the fire engine showed up at the front door in the morning and picked up my daughter and brought her to school with sirenes going and light flashing, she was beaming, 1 child in each grade was picked up and brought in to school. They showed up with the entire school outside. They all felt like superstars! She was instantly known, and ciked. Everyone is SO friendly, no road rage here. There is a movie theater here, and a great Main Street that has so many shops and on the other side of Littleton is all the chain stores and restaurants. It was voted 9th best small town in America and Outdoor Magazine voted it one of America's dream towns last year. Main Street has also received awards. You should go to Golittleton.com or the Chamber of Commerce online. Hope this all helps. If you just go into town it looks busy but on the outskirts you will see the farms and the serenity. You can have the best of both worlds, a thriving town with all the amenities and live in peace. Good luck to you. Sincerely, Chris Vivieros

Hi Chris,

How long have you lived in Littleton? We moved here this past April and I can second everything you said about it I have been extremely impressed by the children and teens we've encountered - all very friendly and polite. The adults are wonderful as well. We came from NYS and the pace of life up here is so much nicer, slower, I guess would describe it. We feel much calmer and much less stressed in general since moving....Anytime we've had a question about anything, whomever we asked has been more than helpful. We've rented an old farmhouse for a year before buying and in our backyard we have fox, moose, turkeys, a HUGE woodchuck (I've never seen one that big!) and we hear the bears hooting to each other at night.

Thanks, Chris! I read your post in the other forum and wondered which town you live in. I love the fact that there is no road rage in littleton! How is the traffic? Do you get a lot of traffic passing through to get to other towns?
Windchimes, your desciption of the animals at your home in your yard sound so dreamy! Can anyoe tell me more about Littleton and Bethlehem?

Sevdie, did you scope out the Chamber of Commerce websites for Littleton and Bethlehem? I think bethlehem is like BethlehemWhiteMountians, or something similar and I am not sure, you can do a general search for Littleton, NH chamber of Commerce, and Golittleton.com. Good luck to you Sevdie and any other NH relocators. We welcome you.

Hi Windchimes! I thought I had responded to you, but I don't see my post! We have only been here over a year, we LOVE it here! How about you? My Mom is not handling it well though, she is back in RI, and we took the Grandkids away. So we are heading back to RI, unfortunately. The kids really miss my parents. We will be back someday! I hope.

I just pm'd you back! lol, thank you. We have a farm here in Littleton too. That house in Bethlehem is a quality built house. Our loss on that one. It was already appraised so much higher than what we are asking for it.
