dunno... maybe there just aren't that many rentals available for what you want?? Is it necessary to tell them that you are military? I mean, if I were househunting, I can't see that disclosing my/DH's occupation would be the initial thing I tell them; not until they ask for financial reasons - and then I know if there's anything available.

Given the number of the military families from Hanscom AFB (home of the AF Electronic Systems Center); that's definitely not the case. I will say there are not a lot of rental houses available compared to a lot of other areas I've lived. You may want to contact the base housing office to see if they have any suggestions.

Additionally- call some realtors in Nashua; try www.realtor.com to get a feel for some of the agencies. Val may be able to point you in a good direction as well.

I wouldn't expect anyone who is renting to respond on here...that's not really the purpose of this site, etc.

Definitely call the housing office at Hanscom. I knew a few people stationed at Hanscom that lived in the Nashua area, so the housing office might have some leads for places to rent up there if its popular with a lot of the base personnel. They might be able to also put you in touch with some property management companies up there. They are your servicing base - make them work for you.

I don't think being military is a negative to a prospective landlord. If anything, it lets them know you have a stable income (and they know exactly how much you get for housing). My parents had a couple of rentals near the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME, and they loved renting to military families.

I hope you start having better luck....

If you were looking in Cambridge, Ma I'd expect you to have issues. That place is rife with socalist hippies. You shouldn't be having any issues with regard to being a military family in NH.

Home rentals tend to be expensive, is it just a case of "sticker shock"?

Best wishes and good luck !

Who are not responding to you? Prospective landlords?

There are not many houses for rent in the area and fewer that fit your needs (as was mentioned in your original thread) and the few that do go fast. So maybe LL are not responding because the house is already rented or they prefer someone already in the area that can see the house and provide paperwork in person.

It's not because you are military, it's because you are far away.

When my wife and I first moved to NH, we rented a place in Hollis Crossing, a condo complex on the Nashua/Hollis border. It is in Nashua off exit 6. 2 BR and a loft (excellent playroom). There are flat condos as well as townhouse style. The place has a pool and nice grounds. Lots of trees.

Here is an example: 2 bedroom 2 bathroom (http://nh.craigslist.org/apa/2865946725.html - broken link)

If there is any way I can help you, let me know. How old is your daughter? Are schools a concern? There are a few rentals in our area and we like the schools:

They have two small dogs which may be limiting them, and their rent limit is $1500 a month. Here is OP's previous thread with more info on their needs: please help relocating from japan :)

I looked again on the previous site I mentioned, OP, and haven't found anything, I'm sorry those other leads didn't work out. I'll message you if I see anything else.
