very strange death at Cannon last weekend. A 47 year old man was discovered dead on the chairlift at 4:40 PM. How does this happen? The last lift loaded at 3:40..... Even giving an hour for all the chairs to pass the top of the lift, how is it that nobody noticed he was on the chair during that time?

He skied all day with his family without a problem. As usual, there is no follow-up with WMUR TV 9.

The local news covered it and I thought he was skiing alone. He passed away of natural causes. This just happens sometimes. He probably wasn't sitting there very long at all before somebody noticed that he was unresponsive.

He was on the lift alone. Why wasn't he discovered at the top when he didn't get off? My point is, does it really take more than an hour for all the chairs to go around once? Why wasn't he discovered BEFORE quarter of five???? The lifts close at Cannon at 3:45 PM and the police were called to Cannon Mountain at 4:40 PM for an unresponsive skier on a lift. Did the Lift Operators close the lift down and leave the skier stranded on the lift?

I assumed it was natural causes but the results from autopsy will take some time. Anyhow, 47 is way too young. RIP John Dinapoli.

Are you positive you have those times 100% correct? I'm sure if there was any funny business the state police would be taking a hard look at the ski operators. I volunteer with a ski lift operator at the hospital and I'm sure there was no funny business. I suppose you could call the State police and check on things if you are concernerned, because, 47 is indeed to young to pass away.

positive I have the times correct. I ski Cannon all the time. I KNOW the last chair is loaded by 3:45pm.

all reports indicate that the man was found at 4:40pm.

Reminds me of the movie, Frozen (2010). Years ago, I remember 3 teens being left overnight on a ski lift at an area in NY state. They survived, but it wasn't easy.

Maybe he couldn't "live free" anymore, so he just died.

Death can reach out and grab ya any time any where. Live life while you still have it. I hope this man enjoyed his skiing.
