Default Racial Diversity around Lake Winnipesaukee?

We are a racially-mixed family looking for an ethnically/racially-diverse beach/lake community for renting house or a resort room for a week in the summer but one that is also somewhat upscale (i.e., not party town, not too loud, relatively peaceful). Good places to eat, etc.

in NH no one cares much what your skin color is - or that of your family. If you're coming for vacation, just come for vacation! It is a very white state, but it's not like anyone is checking pigmentation at the border. There is a difference between being worried about diversity and being worried about ignorant racists. It's not a diverse state (except in our 'cities'), but it is pretty tolerant.

I'd second what Wanna says. NH is very white; heck with a long enough winter even people who started brown become white That said anywhere that's a vacation destination will likely have more diversity because of other visitors.

I've lived in many other places (southern, central, northern) and folks in NH seem to care the least about skin color. Doesn't mean that there are no ignorant hateful people (they are everywhere), there just seem to be less of them.

WHY does every question I read have to do with race? MOST folks don't care if you're black, white, green, purple, or whatever. IF you are that upset about your color then don't go anywhere. Stay home, safe in YOUR little world. Afterall the rest of us are a bunch of racists ya know SHEESH!!!

The only color the rental places care about is green. As in how much they can charge.

I suggest looking on the East end of the lake around Wolfeborough and Alton. Same lake and fewer people. Also consider Squam and Newfound Lakes for a vacation. If you want to really get away book a room or cabin on Lake Francis or First Connecticut Lake near the Canadian border.

As one poster said - do it soon.

Every now and then I read a comment from someone that makes me wonder if I'm reading a completely different version of what someone wrote. What on earth did the OP write to trigger this rant? Always finish your coffee before posting

I guess your reading skills are below par then. Apparently others out here understood it even if YOU don't. Maybe YOU should drink more milk and less coffee.

Too many folks worry about ethnic/race If you want to go somewhere on vacation just go and to heck with this crap.

It was a fair question from the OP. I understand perfectly what he was asking. It's perfectly fine to ask for a racially diverse area. They might just not want to be stared at. I grew up in that very area. There aren't many minorities. People would not stare because they are racist, but because it's something they don't see often. It's human nature. You might deny they would, but that is something I'd make a big wager on with a hidden camera.

Put yourself in their shoes. Let's imagine that your wife is black. You can choose between two vacation communities. In one of them you might be the only white person there. At best there are two or three others. The other area is diverse and you are one of many, and probably not even the only mixed race couple. Go ahead and lie to me. Tell me that you wouldn't give a 2nd thought as to the diversity of the areas you are considering. Nothing wrong with that. And there was nothing wrong with what the OP was asking. He wasn't accusing people of being racist. He wasn't wondering if people would rent to him.

^I understood what the OP meant also, and see your point; however, it is NH, and unlike CA, FL or other states, it is not considered a melting pot...far from it, in fact. If diversity is what the OP truly values, then NH is one of the last states anyone including I would think of. It has nothing to do with racism, but the general lack of diversity throughout the state. I would just enjoy what NH has to offer or pick a state with more cultural diversity, in his his/her chances of finding a diverse resort would be greater.
