I can tell you a few things, as I checked it out a couple of months ago.
Strip malls...well, uh,....yes they have them. Lots of them. The entire Rt 102 corridor is strip malls all the way to the Derry line. They have everything from Sears to Lowes and everything in bewteen.
If you go north on Rt 128 you'll find the schools and police/fire station. Everything looks like it's new or recently built. Schools are purportedly to be some of the best in the state. No discernable downtown with sidewalks (like Derry) that I saw. More like a crossroads with the typical suburban flair. Nice and clean, though. Residential areas are decent with lots of nice homes. Seems to be plenty of space. There is probably plenty to do civically.
Valerie C on this forum lives there. She seems to like it very much. You can always DM her. I've been looking at homes in the area as well. It's still on my short list, but taxes are a bit high so it may slide back.
I'm still searching for that combination of decent schools, lower taxes and nice neighborhood, with reasonable commuting distance to Concord, Manchester or Nashua. So far Bedford, Pembroke, Weare, Hopkinton and Londonderry are the top five with Bow an alternate. Unfortunately, the combination I'm looking for is always off on at least one aspect, mainly lower taxes!!

Londonderry was a very nice place to live when I moved in 25 years ago. Since then the population has tripled, the school system become extravagant, the taxes outrageous and the Saturday morning traffic unbearable. All the growth was in things I do not use or need with the exception of the library. The town has become almost unaffordable for anyone making less than 100 grand. It was nice but has become just another yuppiville

Yes, NH has emissions testing for vehicles 1996 and newer. New Hampshire requires all vehicles to be inspected once a year for safety issues.

thank you for that, how much does all that cost and are they really strict?
strange
wouldn't it make more sense to do testing on older cars and not the newer ones, infact just get rid of it would be better
see I live in a place where we don't have inspection stickers, emissions testing and no state income tax so just wondering

I am also hanging out here as Londonderry is on my research list.
Bad traffic - bad as what? Like lots of vehicles, but moving all right, or lots of vehicles barely moving?
Is it realistic to commute to northen MA for work from Londonderry? How long does it take to get to the state border?
Remember-voltaire, is that place Wyoming?

LoveSnow,
Londonderry traffic can get a little backed up around certain intersections at certain times, usually where a feeder road feeds out onto our main drag through town, Route 102. Traffic lights are NOT set up well to allow for good traffic flow, and the police here are basically traffic cops... which I suppose can be considered a good thing, crime is nearly non-existant (although we have had a pair of incidents involving unruly goats...)
There is a blitz of commercial construction in the past few years along route 102, every day I seem to see another lot cleared. It's nothing compared to crawling along route 125 through North Andover and Bradford MA, not like trying to get through Reading at 5:30 PM. It's an inconvenience, and a PIA,.
Getting to the Mass border can be tricky on some mornings, that's when you hop on the back road and come out in the Lowell/Dracut area. Where in MA did you need to get to, maybe I can suggest a route. I do ALOT of driving!!
