Default Chichester Area

My Family is moving to the Chichester, NH area soon!

We are planning on building a house up there and have a few questions.

-Taxes - I've heard HORRID things about the property taxes. We plan on building about a 200k house. Any idea what we can expect the property taxes to be? I was told about 7k/year from one person, but wanted to get some more opinions!

- The job I'm praying for is in Manchester. Google Maps says this is a nice little commute from Chichester, can anyone give some feedback on that?

- Crime - I live in Jacksonville, FL; so I know about crime. But reading the Union Leader makes Jacksonville seem like the Vatican!

Any other advice for a Florida Family that's going to be relocating soon?

Thanks,
EC

I used to live and Chichester and I raised my kids there. It is a wonderful little town with a good school. There is no "downtown".
Very rural, you can't walk to anywhere in particular. You need a car to go everywhere.

Property taxes are high, but they are high everywhere in NH except Alton, and maybe a few other spots. No getting around that.
The commute to Manchester will take about 1/2 hour. Its not a bad ride at all.

Crime?? Whats that??

Good luck!
