Doing business in Canada
Here's a crazy question. With NH's proximity to Canada, do any of you NHers conduct business in Canada? If yes, what's it like? Would you recommend it? Any stuff to beware of?

I'm not a New Hampshire resident, and I don't have any first-hand knowledge of this, but I do know that the parts of NH that border Canada are very remote, and the areas in Quebec immediately across the NH border are also pretty rural and remote. The larger cities, like Montreal and Quebec City, are several hours away. Any cross border business would be more likely to exist out in Plattsburgh, NY or Burlington, VT areas which are both much larger cities than anything in Northern New Hampshire and are both much closer to the population centers in Quebec.

But it "can" be done, is what you're saying...? Do you have to have Canadian insurance, Canadian permits, a Canadian driver's license, etc?

How bad are the taxes in Canada, for Americans just buying stuff there? I know they have that Value Added Tax... what else?

the size of cities near the Canadian border have nothing to do with trade.
more than 37,000 NH residents are involved in business with Canada. NH exports $493 million in products and imports $5.8 BILLION in products. Most of the Canadian imports are coal products to the tune of $4.6 billion.
We export lumber, wood, sugar, paper, rubber and bearings and more.
