Why property in Weare is so inexpensive?
... comparatively to other towns in the area? It has low property taxes too. It is close to Manchester or Concord (I guess suitable for daily commute if necessary, right?) Is it family-friendly? Activities for kids? What about schools?

I'm sorry, we're not allowed to say. That information is classified as "top secret". All kidding aside, Weare is a fine town. I'm not sure where you get the idea that we have low taxes. You may get arguments on that one from some of the locals. I can tell you that a home assessed at 350K will cost you about $6000 a year in property taxes.
Your commutes to Manchester and Concord are around 20 minutes or so and access to interstate highways are about the same. All the schools are relatively new including the new middle school which just opened up this year.
Activities for kids include the usual baseball/softball/basketball/soccer leagues and maybe a few more now a days. I've been out of those circles for quite a few years now.
I believe the town is as friendly as any other small NH town. It may take time to get to know people, but once your not considered a newcomer (which in some cases can take upwards of 20 years or so) they'll give you the shirt off their back and more, if you need it. Maybe sooner if your nice.
And, As some may be happy to know, Weare got there first DD this year too.
Hope this helps.

Oh, for a moment I thought I asked something inappropriate
I got tax info here: NH Community Profiles
Keene is about $26 per each thousand, Concord - almost $19, Hopkinton, Bow - around $20, Manchester $14 and so is Weare. Berlin, if I remember it right, is $30.
In TX you'd pay almost as much (6K) for a $175K home. Property here is generally less expensive, though.
What's DD?

I used to live in Weare, and it IS a great town. It's the largest in the state land wise, and the least populated. At least that's what I was told while I was there. My home was pretty much accross the street (and through the woods) from the State park. I have never met nicer people at the Town Hall nor the police department. I used to work as an Animal Control officer for a short time before I moved.
Oh! And if your looking for GREAT pancakes go to the resturant at the base of Pats Peak. You will NOT be let down. Be sure to get there before 9am otherwise you'll have a line. I used to go there every Satruday.
I have since moved to Charlotte, NC but during my time in Weare, I was very happy. If I were to go back to Chilly NH, I would move back there in a heartbeat!

Try this link as it is probably closer to actual since it is from Dec. of 2006:
Property Tax (broken link)
As you can see, Bow is $28/K, Hopkinton is $21 and Weare is $16 so there have been changes since the profiles were last written. I use the profiles for other things like municipal data and schools.

Manchester is a bit of a hike as well as Hanover, could be done though. Warner is a nice town, but I have a bit of a soft spot for New London. Low taxes, college town, local playhouse, next to Sunapee Lake, near skiiing, etc. Sort of right in between Concord and Lebanon. Was just up there on Wednesday. Stopped in both New London and Warner. Both have their own unique charm.
