It's hard to believe, but after 14 loooooong years.....I finally made it to New Hampshire!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't posted but a few times here - been lurking and reading alot here though after all of those years.

Yep, I won't fill you in on all of the 'behind-the-scenes' thoughts and actions that really got me here, but humanly speaking, I was looking on Craigslist for another job, as mine was getting to the point where I wanted to leave - and a posting was listed for a 'store reset' - turns out it was just south of Boston - it was was /is supposed to be for 2 months - they paid my gas to get here, my food and 100% of my lodging.....and... I am getting TWICE what I was getting with my old job!!!
I even got my room to myself for the first two weeks, but, as of today, I will get a bunkmate for the next 6 weeks - (hopefully that will be a good thing).

So, I visited Nashua, Portsmouth, Concord, Manchester so far - I have more sightseeing to do in Manchester. Want to visit Londonderry (Val likes it there) - I also heard that Dover might be nice.
I would like to go to Keene as well.

I also went to Hampton Beach, seemed nice enough, not one one thinks about when thinking of New Hampshire!

Boston is a cool town, lots of bustle, but a nightmare to navigate!
These people in Mass. might as well not make maps, they don't seem to make street signs!

I am surprised that there are no 'red light cameras' to be found!!

So, I really liked Portsmouth, and Manchester might fit because I like a bigger town, but I really do love those quaint homey feel towns as well.

I am looking for a good internet provider, we have Charter back home in St. Louis, MO - and I am really pleased with their service - fastest internet around.

Anyway....I just wanted you all to know, that patience IS a virtue!
14 years, finally made it.

Hoping to move next year, preferably around spring so as to enjoy all the beauty throughout the year.
More later.
Ernest

congrats on finally making the move, Ernest!! I completely understand about the patience thing: We started planning 7 years out, also. Then we chopped 2 years off! now we're down to 3 months. I can hardly believe it's around the corner.

Good luck on your town search!

Happy to hear that you've landed and begun exploration in southern NH. Something that you'll appreciate about the area is that everything is approximately 1 hour away. If you're in the Manchester area, you can get to the coast, the lakes, Boston or Keene in just about an hour. Maybe a bit longer to get to the white Mts of NH, Green Mts of VT or the Cape (MA). Unlike St.Charles County (we were in Dardenne Prairie/O'Fallon area) where it took THREE hours (or seemed to anyway) to get to Lake of the Ozarks, float trips on the Merimec (did I spell that wrong? Been a few years!) or caves to explore...If you'll miss the Balloon Fest in Forest Park, there is one in Pittsfield every spring, and it's even safe to attend the Balloon Glow the night before So we got you covered!

Will you be making trips back & forth to MO? I'd like to put in for a bottle or two of Maull's-best stuff ever, and one of the few things I miss about Missouri...

Congratulations. It is impressive that the thought of moving persisted in you that long.

Funny thing you mention about the street signs. Being new to NH, my wife and I think the same about street signs in NH.

Well, I haven't moved here ,,,yet - I am able to 'explore' a little as time and money dictates.
I am supposed to be here for two months, could be less.
But, I have been finally able to get here - and I didn't have to even pay to do it, but got paid to do it!

I will going to Keene next, and of course stop at Peterborough.
Any suggestions about what to look for while driving around? Sightseeing stuff - bridges, farms etc?
Thanks for the comments everyone !
