Property Taxes and other taxes
When evaluating NH, people sometimes express concern over the property taxes. But, be aware that NH has no sales tax and no income tax.
Your own situation must be considered when thinking about NH as a place to live. If you decide to live in NH and work in another state, you are likely to pay income taxes in the work-state. If you live in NH and work in Maine, ALL marital joint income is subject to Maine state income tax.

Good Morning RetiredGuy-
Thanks for that tidbit of information, I did not know that about Maine's tax. Seems unfair, huh?!
Do you live in NH?

So what you're saying is that if you both live and work in NH, the tax situation evens out. But if you work in another state, and are taxed there, then pay the high property taxes in NH, they might be a little excessive for anyone to bear.

I would just like to add that although New Hampshire has no state tax or sales tax, the fees even it out. Try and register a car in New Hampshire and you will know exactly what I am talking About.

Fees
I live in Arizona. Auto registration fee is based on current value. I drive a 2 year old car that would now sell for $20k. Registration costs $300 for this year.
What is a ballpark figure for this car in NH ?

Yes.
Please give us your information on this issue.
We, too, are considering a move to NH.
We live in Maine and consider it to have truly oppressive taxation.
....and are there any other objectionable taxes we ought to know about.

I am one of those that has the benefit of living in NH and paying state income taxes in Massachusetts. If it can be avoided, do it. Unfortunately my line of work takes me there. My husband works in NH, makes 25k less than me a year and still brings home as much. We pay $6000.+ for property taxes on top of that. I have $600. put into a savings account every 4 weeks just for that use. Buy property in the North Country if you move here, not near a lake or the Massachusetts border.

I think you would still have to file a state income tax report in Maine if you worked in NH. Same as if you lived in MA and worked in NH.
