I am about to sell my house and build another but I want to know how much it and other houses in my area are assessed for. I know my assessment but I would like to know the houses in the area that are the same size and style as my so I don't under/over price it. Any ideas on web listings? I own in Franklin NH and have looked on the city site to with no luck.

Thank you in advance

You will need to know the property address or the name and address of the property owner to which property you would like to compare with yours. With this information in hand, you can go to the town or city hall and look up the property in the tax records. The tax records should give you the information your seeking.

Go to realtor.com and on the home page there is a "what's my home worth?" area. You just plug in your address and it lists recent home sales around you with beds, baths, sq.ft., and year built. You can also use realtor.com and nneren.com to do a search on the # of bedrooms,baths,etc..that your house is in your town and see what comparable houses are listed for. Also, drive around and check out for sale by owner houses in your area and see what they are selling for. You are right in doing your research because the assessment value of your house is not necessarily the selling price for your house. This should keep you busy for a while

Or you could ask a Realtor for some recent sales data on properties that are similar to yours in square footage/age/bedroom count, etc
