I am not pro gambling but maybe a casino in NH is not such a bad idea if it is done properly to help balance the budget and stimulate the economy. .The question is where is the most logical and safest place for one that will create the most jobs and help local business and the economy the most keeping in mind the undesirable elements that it could possible bring such as crime including theft,prostitution,vagrancy,drugs and corruption among others.Where a casino is built or created is a big factor.So here is a poll please vote and if the location is not listed please specify in a response.If you do not think it is a good idea at all please explain.

We don't need a casino. NH does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. All that revenue from a casino would do would be to wet the appetite of the leaches in the state house to spend more and more, tax more and more. Not to mention crime and other problems from a casino. The budget can be balanced without a casino.
Why do you think these leaches in Concord are running around promoting a lot of new taxes-gas, income, registration etc.? Because then they can convince people that a casino is needed with the promise of no tax increases.
The leaches on the right and left in Concord need to cut overbloated state government and government spending-nothing more.
If you really want to stimulate the economy in NH, make it more business friendly-make it a right to work state. Also, stop providing benefits and pensions to state workers that most people in the private sector don't receive. Cut HHS-it is about half our budget which is just wrong.

More tax dollars means a larger state.gov, really don't want that.
NH is not ideal for gamblers due to their recent 10% tax on gambling proceeds. This will prevent operators from even trying to open. Who would have ever thought gambling in MA would be cheaper than in NH in the case of a major win?
NH doesn't have the population to support it either. Casinos like the ones in Southern MA can pull from millions of people in a 20-25 mile range.
The biggest flaw in the gambling is the "opportunity cost" of the wagering....basically what else could be done with those same dollars used for betting? Guy blows $500 in a weekend of gambling, what else in that area/state could have been done with that same $500. Casinos love to talk about the winnings/winners and the jobs they create but what about the other places/jobs that suffer due to lack of patrons? Truth is the jobs are low wage, the proof the US doesn't need more casinos is easily recognized with a short trip to Atlantic City.
Remember, glamorous/fancy casinos aren't built with winner's money........

That will never happen so why to mention it .NH needs practical solutions not unrealistic ones.Many people in the private sector do have benefits,health care and pensions(401k) except the self employed.And it is the nature of government jobs to have pensions and benefits across the US why should NH be an exception?Are they more special than other states or should they just be less "privileged".
The problem is there is too much waste in govt programs bordering on corruption,not that they have pensions.Workers are spoiled and expect too much for what they put out.Trimming the fact and expecting better productivity and efficiency will help.Look at the postal service, not exactly the govt but run like it.
Impractical and eccentric ideas help and benefit nobody.People who work hard, do there jobs efficiently and competently without having to be a member of the good ole boy or girl club should be taken care of appropriately and have security for themselves and their families.
And the politics of business here already are on the "right to work" side.Why do we need another law to say it is.The average wages are low compared to the cost of living.That is why so many people have to work in Ma or be self employed.Why does it need to be "right to work" that's ridiculous.Common sense isn't common.
The more "business friendly" part can happen though, but a big part of that is the attitude of the business owners and what they value,huge profits or happy workers who are adequately compensated.

just been dealing with casinos in MD. it's not a help, no matter what they say (of course, MD govt lies through their teeth about everything - including where the profits will go. don't know if NH does the same). crime does follow. Considering that it's always slanted in favor of the house, it really is nothing more than legalized theft. My vote would be to keep them out of NH. perhaps in CT where they already have them?
