I am looking into moving into a house in Londonderry. Do you hear a lot of airplane noise on Hall Road or on Walton Circle? Thanks on advance for your reply/
I don't live in Londonderry, but I live very close to the airport and the noise is honestly quite minimal. You won't hear take-off/landing noise, but some noise as they fly fairly low over town.
We live just south of Rt 102. The aircraft landing to the north turn on to that approach right over head. In the summer the noise is quite loud and blanks out TV sound. In the winter the closed windows block most of it.
The landing pattern follows High Range Road from 102 to the airport. The noise is quite loud (interrupts conversation) along this path becoming louder as the aircraft approach the airport and for about 1/4 mile to either side. Hall Road is well within the noise zone.
The noise can be annoying but is relatively infrequent unlike traffic noise along I-93.
On the Hall Road house, it will depend which end of the road the house is. If the house is closer to 28/128 (Mammoth Road) there shouldn't be be any airplane noise, because the runway runs north/south, and that end of Hall Road is a mile and a half to the east. That would be a VERY sharp curve to the runway. IF the house is at the other end of Hall Road, near the intersection of High Range & Litchfield Road, you would have plenty of airplane noise and see planes up close, with landing gear down. This intersection is just about 1 mile from the runway, and the landing path runs along High Range Road.
Walton Circle would not/should not be affected in any way from airplane noise. It may eventually be subject to road construction noise on Route 93 (the ongoing widening project), depending on where the house is, and which side of the street it's on. If it's at either end of the road, shouldn't be a problem--the properties that have lots of woods between the houses and the highway will be the ones affected most. In any case, there is several hundred feet of heavily treed area between the neighborhood and the highway, so don't see an issue. More highway noise will filter in during winter months when leaves have fallen. This is an area where one of the online map websites will be helpful.

My mother lives very very close to the airport in fact we see the planes coming in and the noise is very very little. Living near an airport is great!!!!!
I live very close to Greg and agree with him - airplane noise can be very loud with the windows open during summer and not as bad during winter, but I still hear them. There are few flights after midnight, so hearing them when you're sleeping should rarely be a problem.

Yes, the planes fly essentially straight up High Range Road (which turns into Harvey Road near the airport) - one of the runways is right at the end of it.
As far as seeing them up close, I found this fun anomaly on Google Maps a while back and now have a reason to use it.
That's a pretty blue Southwest plane at the top left of the photo flying along High Range very close to landing. You can see Hall Road branching off to the right from High Range and the houses Valerie is talking about. There are more houses for .2 miles farther, then the marsh begins and the other houses Valerie talks about are beyond that.
Since I've gotten a few comments about the Google Maps photo, I thought I would post a pic of the closest view that Google provides - it's pretty cool.
Wow C, that IS a great find--thank you for sharing! Yes, it is VERY loud at this point--the upside is that when the plane is that close, it zooms past pretty quickly, so the noise doesn't seem drag on for much more than a few seconds as it passes
