My daughter lives and teaches in Dover. They like it alot as it is close to the coast and the mountains for skiing. Also close to Boston for cultural activities. Dover has a great downtown with interesting restaurants and if you want to take courses it is close to UNH. They also own appartment buildings in Rochester and Somersworth.

i lived my whole life in rochester up until 6 years ago. my kids are in the rochester school system and there doing fine. rochester is not a bad place to live. it's not a big city and it has alot of country areas to live in. the south side of rochester is nice also is the north side. i have lived all over rochester. your not far from dover which is a good size city somersworth is a pretty small city., also near portsmouth which is a pretty big city. all these areas have a lot of places to shop and places to eat. your only 10 minutes to maine. if you have any questions you would like to ask you can PM me any time you want and i can give you any info your looking for.

FutureNHian;
I moved from Fort Walton Beach, Fl to Laconia, NH and then next door to Gilford, NH about 13 years ago. It was for job purposes. While the wages were much better here than in Florida I wish I had stayed where I was. If you are a liberal, you will love it here. If you are conservative you will be tollerated for the time being. The problem is, the most rude people that you will ever encouter from the state of Massachussetts are moving here in droves. The think they are Gods gift to the people and state of New Hampshire. What they don't realize is that they are really hated by Granite Staters. The old saying about them goes, " Leave your attitudes and bratty kids at home and just leave your wallets at the toll booth".
So many have come that they have actually turned a Red state into a Blue state.
My family and I are moving out of here in the next few months. We are moving back south. Maybe not Florida, but at least somewhere it is not considered rude to say 'good morning' to someone you don't know.
Lets not forget the brutal winters either...

Its not just the Mass. people its the old yankees that inhabit NE..They are very set in their ways and outsiders are a threat. I think its hard for people to understand unless they actually experience it. My inlaws who are native NE's their whole lives would always tell me "you'll never be accepted as a NE'er but your kids might, and your kids kids will" I always thought that was the most ridiculous thing ever till I lived here and now I see what they mean. We're moving south too.. I'm kinda sick of the liberalness and boy are they pushy about it. Every week I gotta see protests downtown about what a terrible human I am for using paper or something weird. Oddly enough I think the Mass people are more down to earth, personally I think the small town people in NH are the ones in their own world completely cut off from most of the world.

but if you look at how many changes there have been (and all the nonsense you're seeing in Keene.... these outsiders ARE a threat! they keep wanting to liberalize NH. Sure, many don't - but you can't tell right off.

But that's Keene. How much of these protests are you seeing in... say.. Wilton or Warner or Chester? the small towns aren't doing all this, the cities (and small cities like Keene) and especially college areas are. Please don't paint the whole place as protestingly liberal when you're mostly talking college-town.

New hampshire is being taken over by mass people that's why it's getting so bad. all the liberals come from mass. they come north to nh and buy up all the land because they don't have to pay tax. it's the people that come from mass that are rude. i know i lived there my whole life and i've seen alot of it first hand. my aunt lives in northern nh and she says their even buying up all the land up there.

*waves* Howdy from Belmont! I work in Gilford, round the lake from you. I love living in the lakes region. The people are so nice, and the scenery and shops are wonderful!
